AS11 Pulsing

Post by Eddy » Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:42 pm

I have read all the topics I can find on this issue of the CPAP unit pulsing. I experience a definite pulsing when awake, especially after a bathroom break. It looks as if I have some erratic, periodic breathing just before I go back to sleep and the machine software attempts to respond because EPR is on. I've seen some CSR in this period a few times. I interpret the mask pulses (circled) in the graph as the pulsing I am feeling. The peak mask pressure at the first pulse is 20 the second is 17.66. This wakes me up and the cycle repeats making getting back to sleep difficult. The pulsing feed upon itself and I then breath even more erratically :!:

My pressure is 11-17. A pressure of 11-12 reduces my OA's and max of 17 limits the leaks ... sometimes. I have tried 8,9,10 but my AHI (both H and OA increase to above 5 from about 1-2). Based upon my reading of other posts, I am reducing the EPR 1 pressure point for 3 nights (repeat) until the pulsing goes away. Does this appear to be a reasonable interpretation and approach :?:

It could be FOT.
Look it up, and don't freak out.
The algorithm that triggers it may be a bit over-sensitive.
Better than not being sensitive enough.

I doubt it is FOT.
FOT will show up on the flow rate graphs and I just don't see it it in the shared example.

So, the odd-looking pattern is what?
Nature being random?

I reduced pressure to 11-16 and EPR to 2 and for the last two nights the pulsing has stopped. At least, not that I perceive them. How can the mask pressure go so high?

only two OA.

The masks are designed to go to 20+cmH2O

only two OA.
Your mask was in Large Leak for 43% of the night. The data is probably inaccurate.

You need to fix the mask leak. Find that mask on youtube and carefully watch some videos on fitting and adjusting.

I am trying to get the leaks under control with minimal success. Why do you say the 43% is inaccurate ... I see this level often.

Reviewed youtube fitting and adjusting several times to no avail. beginning to believe this mask is no longer going to be usable.

Oh, the 43% time in LL is accurate. But, the other data may not be due to the large leak.
