Sinus Infection Emergency
Sinus Infection Emergency
Hi! I haven't posted in a while. So many reasons . BUT , I have the sinus infection from Hell. It's' located on the bridge of my nose and not sides of the eyes. I cannot explain how painful it is. I'm on antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds. I the meantime, I can't wear my mask. It's a Mirage Activa LT and hits me exactly where the pain is. But, I do have a Resmed N30 and I 've tried everything to get it to seal! I've watched all the videos. I have a medium cushion. Does anyone have any wisdom for me to help me sleep tonight ? It's going on 4 nights with no sleep.

I'm familiar with that mask, I just could not get it to seal, either. I wish I had a good idea for you. I think if it was me I would be looking around the house for any kind of foam I could cut up or something I could stick around my nose and just experiment. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

I get occasional sinus infections, but for me, they present differently. For me they are much farther back at the top of my throat. I have had good luck with using Flonase when they happen. That may help you, but you should make sure that it won't interfere with any other meds you may be taking.
Have you been to see an ear, nose and throat doctor? I went to see one after decades of suffering with sinus infections and he ordered an MRI. He discovered that most of my sinus drains (I don't remember the technical term he used) had closed up. He did a procedure to open then up, and while he was in there he repaired a deviated septum that I had no idea I had. Ever since then I have had far fewer infections happen, and the ones that do happen are much milder now. It might be worth a shot in your case also.

That mask is usually easy to seal. It gets 4.1 of 5.0 stars on cpap.com.
When the mask is leaking, intuition says to push it up toward the nostrils. It actually helps to pull it down away from the nostrils, release it, and let it settle on its own back up against the nostrils.
How much leak are you experiencing? What are the unwanted effects of the leaks?

Thanks! I actually got it to seal last night. And yes that's the way I got it to work, pulling down instead up.
I was having massive leaks at first, but managed to find the sweet spot for the head gear and the tightness. Finally at 230 PM. I went to sleep!
Appreciate your response.
