Any use for old machine?

Post by devinarmand » Sat Jan 14, 2023 9:45 am

I'm sure this has been answered before, but none of the search terms I tried turned up anything useful. I just replaced my still working ResMed S9 AutoSet with the AirSense 11. What do you all do with old machines - just throw them away? I don't need a back-up machine because I have a travel CPAP. Would hate to toss it if there's something useful that could be done with it. The power supply is newer - had to replace that.

If you don't need it for a back up, there really isn't much use for it.

You replaced it, because it's old, and starting to show problems or about to. Trying to find someone who could use it, and expect it reliably treat them is not really doing them any favours.

Drop it off at an electronics disposal/recycling facility.

Post it on Craigslist or nextdoor. Someone may want to test it out before buying one.

I donated one to the free clinic near the homeless shelter.
It had 9 months use--around 3,000 hours.

An often used line from the movie 'Forrest Gump" comes to mind........"My Momma always used to say, Stupid as Stupid does"

My advice: KEEP IT!!! (You just never know when you might need it)

Second Wind CPAP https://www.secondwindcpap.com sells second-hand / refurbished machines. It's possible they may be interested in buying it from you.

Secondwindcpap.com has a restriction on the hours of use when it comes to buying a machine from someone to resell.
They simply aren't interested in any machine with 2,000 or more hours of use.
And sometimes, depending on brand and model, they aren't buying some machines even with less than 2 K hours on them.
