Bleep Eclipse DME Provider

Hey folks,

I know a couple of people on here are using Bleep products and I was curious... has anyone been able to successfully use insurance to get Bleep Eclipse supplies? I just got off the phone with my DME provider and they had never heard of Bleep and confirmed that they do not carry that product and could not provide me any supplies and bill my insurance.

The Bleep products I've bought so far have been out of pocket but I was hoping to start utilizing my insurance for this. Does anyone have any advice?

Aeroflow seems to be a provider for some forum members using their insurance to get the Bleep/Eclipse.

Your DME could order the product if they just would.

Thanks! From the sounds of it my DME provider was just checking a list and said "nope, we don't carry that". It didn't sound like they were willing to do anything special for me.

This might be a question for my insurance provider but do you think there would be any issues with getting my Bleep products thru Aeroflow and continuing to get my machine supplies via my current DME provider? They are still providing me filter and tubing and technically still own the CPAP machine itself as I'm still in the "rental period". Switching over completely to Aeroflow sounds like it wouldn't be fun. And honestly outside of not carrying the Bleep products my DME provider is pretty good.

When I asked my DME, they said, "Sure, we have it in our Iowa location."
So I asked them to get me the Eclipse, even if it takes a little longer.

Contact your insurance company and explain the problem with your current DME and their refusal to get you a cpap mask you want.
They could maybe light a fire under the DME's ass or perhaps offer you a way to go out of network and get the mask covered elsewhere without having to totally change suppliers.

I signed up with Aeroflow to get my Eclipse through my (cr**py) insurance. They called me Friday to say they were getting prepping my order to ship. Unfortunately, all the paperwork did not process until Tuesday (holiday Monday), so I have to meet a new deductible! Which means my copay is 15%-25% more than paying out-of-pocket, depending on the coupon code & vendor I buy from. Like I said, cr**py insurance.

BUT, Aeroflow did not have machines in stock when I called in November and I was able to get one from a local DME, covered by insurance, just under the wire last year, so covered under my 2022 deductible, and as long as I don't get machine supplies from Aeroflow (only mask), all is good. Since I buy my filters from Amazon, so much cheaper, and only get a one hose and humidifier chamber to have on hand, just in case (used the same ones the entire 5 years with my old machine), that will not be an issue.

Maybe an arrangement like that would work for you?

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to insurance but assuming I have a set replacement schedule for different components with my insurance provider I would think it shouldn't matter to them if the supplies are coming from different DME providers as I'm still "eligible" for the replacement. For this reason I told my current DME provider not to send me anything mask related so I could still hopefully get that supplied via insurance elsewhere.

Honestly, I was surprised how easy it was and that it would work. I will say that the local DME, who arranged for the machine, is the complete opposite of what I read about here on the board. They are amazing to work with, helpful, responsive, I have used them for 5 years off and on. The off has been because my insurance changed from my husband's great insurance to my poor one, but I think that once I go on my Medicare Advantage plan later this year, I can use them again. They are a small, basically Mom & Pop shop.

I just received my three months supply of the bleep eclipse this morning from Aeroflow through Medicare.
We shall see how it goes tonight, I have used the dreamports but hoping this new model is easier to connect.

If you call Aeroflow, they may be able to tell you if they can bill your insurance and how much your insurance covers. Usually I don't recommend relying on information from any DME, but in this case they sound like they are pretty reliable.

BUT, it's not a good idea to be ignorant of your insurance. Because that can get you some unexpected costs.

You should understand if your insurer requires you to use a networked provider, and if you use a provider not in your network, will they cover it at all? If they cover it, will you have a higher co-pay? How much is your deductible? If you are on Medicare and have an Advantage plan, they may not pay for it at all if it's not being provided by their company. Some Advantage plans like Kaiser have their own formulary for Durable Medical Equipment and Supplies and may not cover the Bleep Eclipse at all, even if it is usually covered by Medicare, and you can only use ONE vendor if you want it covered, the one we unaffectionately call Crapria. So you need to be informed, and make your purchases accordingly.

This is your responsibility to know these things, because most DME's out there are not necessarily knowledgeable, and sometimes not truthful about this.

Go online and search for the Evidence of Coverage (EOC) for your plan. If you can't find it, call your insurer and ask them to send you a copy. That's the actual contract you have with your insurer, but you've never seen it unless you know to ask. There will be a section for DME and medical supplies. It should tell you what providers you can use and how much the insurance will cover if you meet the criteria for coverage.

This info changes EVERY YEAR, so don't rely on info from last year to be accurate this year.
