Once I get to the point that I don't actually hate it myself, I'll try to do that. lol.

You're a very good evangelist.
Anyone who shows by her actions how much she loves her mother and her cats should do just fine in time. I think it's all going to turn out well. You may grumble and mutter here and there (who doesn't?), but you are finding it in you somewhere to keep putting in the work.

Besides, you have to make PAP work for you. I've got $20 on it in the office pool. OK, not really, but I don't want my $20 worth of posts to have been wasted. :P

No it's my fault for being fat.
I read PR's post as referring to DNA in general.

And as for the fat thing, many docs, despite claiming to respect science, seem to be genetically unable to remember the old "statistical correlation does not equal causation" principle they were all taught in school, especially when speaking to patients or writing books or anything else in practice.

It is just as plausible that obesity and OSA share a common mutifactorial set of causes as it is that one related condition causes another condition. Some docs just like to pretend that isn't so because they individually seem to find personal satisfaction in blaming victims any time the docs themselves have nothing particularly useful to offer for getting at the root of a particular problem or set of problems.

"Why, you obviously failed to submit to allowing me to bleed you properly earlier, so it's all your fault. Here, take a swig of this snake oil from this lead-based container."

And just because a course of action may prevent a problem from developing, that is no proof whatsoever that the same course of action will reverse the problem once it has occurred.

"Broken leg? Let's treat that by just not having you do any more horse jumps and adjusting how careful you are when riding, to see if the leg heals itself. Sound good?"

OSA in its purest form is an adaptation to a problem. Underweight people suffer too, they just aren't tested often enough because the screeners remain too picky-wicky about testing the non-Pickwickians.
The people who confuse "entomology" and "etymology" really bug me beyond words.

Hey now, no dissing the snake oil.. that stuff was good stuff, at least the real snake oil.
Oil from Chinese water snakes has for centuries been used in Chinese traditional medicine to treat joint pain such as arthritis and bursitis. It has been suggested that the use of snake oil in the United States may have originated with Chinese railway laborers in the mid-19th century, who worked long days of physical toil. Chinese snake oil may have had real benefits due to its high concentration of the omega−3 fatty acid eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)—more than that of salmon;

Now, mashed up rattlesnake, not so much with the good omega-3s.

Great. One more thing that's missing from my diet.

Honey, your mum is just cranky and mean-spirited. Having a wonderful machine that can and will improve and protect your health is a blessing, not a curse. Tell yourself and your mum that, and start believing it! :)

We are all here to help you optimize your therapy, so feel free to ask questions and ask for advice.

Thank you. You're so sweet. To be fair, mum isn't cranky she's overwhelmed. As in, "Oh no, another thing we have to deal with."

Have a great day!

I put wild salmon oil on the cats food to make their hair nice and soft. Maybe try that instead? Good Omega-3 fatty acids for ya. Snake oil only has Omega-1 skinny acid.

I talked to mom this morning and was making her laugh with my description of ripping my face mask off in the middle of the night, because not only am I struggling to adapt to therapy and dealing with menopause, I had an injection for pain last week and the steroids make me flush and cause insomnia. It's just been a horrible week. Hoping things get better.

At least we can laugh about it!

She's right in the path of hurricane Nicole. I just can't wait to get her up here to New Jersey.

My brother reminded me that some people live to gripe.
It's all they know.
When they stop griping, something is wrong.
When the bullfrog stopped yelling about my driving,
I realized he was nearly blind.
Luckily, the cararacts were the cause.
Now he does the driving--his sight is better than mine.

This, right here, is why I haven't told my parents about the CPAP, among other things. My dad is very very good at finding fault with everything, and blaming everything less than perfect about me on character flaws. I also have ADHD, and as I learned more about it, I discovered the majority of the "moral failings" my dad was always on my case about were classic ADHD symptoms, caused by the way our brains are wired and/or by the insufficient supply of dopamine.

And now I have the mental image of someone trying to use a potato masher on a snake. You're welcome?

For those talking about Omega-3s now, you can get supplements. They make pills from fish oil (which will make you burp a fish taste), krill oil (which I don't recommend because krill are the main food source of many of the largest creatures in the ocean, and we don't need to over-fish them as well), and flax oil (which will make you burp flax... if you've ever eaten flax seeds, you'll know the taste to expect).

Thanks. Will have salmon for dinner.

Not sure if my fur will soften and shine much, though.

Kryll oil comes in much smaller gelcaps than fish oil.
Far easier to swallow.
I gag great big fish oil caps up--no choice, my anatomy.
Sorry about the oceans, but knowing anything can be farmed if they have to.

I understand the gagging on larger pills issue. I've never tried krill oil, so I didn't know the gelcaps were significantly smaller. That suggests the omega-3 content is a lot higher in the oil. Interesting...

I hear it is easier on the gut if capsules are frozen. they get further along in the gullet before they start to open up.
