Bleep Sleep

Post by tristan722 » Wed Sep 21, 2022 8:36 am

I was curious if anyone has used this mask. I have used it once, but the black filtration system that you put on it to dampen the sound doesn't let any air out of the exhalation ports. Is that safe? I know that's one of the biggest no no's with cpap masks is not covering the exhalation ports.

I have been using the Bleep ever since before its initial release.....Since Dec 2018.

The little black piece just holds a little bit of an air filter over the vent holes to diffuse the venting. It doesn't block the vent holes at all.
There is no danger. Look more closely at the black thing....it's got little holes where the filter material is.
It's not a solid over the vent holes.

If it looks interesting to you....there's a new improved version coming out hopefully mid to late October called the Eclipse.

Awesome. I'm looking for something to switch out with my Philips Dreamwear nasal mask because it hurts my nose when I use it everyday. I was paranoid about breathing too much carbon dioxide, so I only used the Bleep one night lol.

It actually takes very little venting to get rid of the Carbon dioxide. A lot less than people might think.
Stuart told me a while back that when he was designing the Bleep that the engineers gave him a version with just enough vent holes to clear out the CO2 and while it was enough holes technically he told me that the act of breathing was NOT easy at all and he knew if he found it uncomfortable it would be a deal breaker for others. So he sent it back and said "more bigger vent holes"....
Then we add a little diffuser to cut back on the jet stream.

It will be fine....give it another try.
If it bugs you too much you can remove the black diffuser thing. Easy to do.

Just passing on some info I found out…

Visited my dme yesterday and asked about bleep eclipse.

The latest news they have is that supply chain issues have delayed manufacturing, and release has been pushed back until late november / early december.

New product release dates are always soft (until they aren't), so we just have to stay tuned…

True.

Silicone supply issues to be more to the point. Delayed several times for several reasons and the latest news is the silicone is on a box car somewhere in the USA on its way to the factory in Akron, Ohio. It's been in transit from the Long Beach facility for at least a month and this was after a god awful wait to get unloaded at Long Beach.

Once it gets to the factory then there is a ton of regulatory paperwork that has to be done and none of it can be done ahead of time.

The reason I said "somewhere" is because apparently there is no way to track rail cars that have gone AWOL. Stuart is not a happy camper.

Welcome to our new normal I guess.

Any issues with the magnets, given the recent recalls of other CPAP mask products with magnets?

I saw a video, can't find the link now, think it was Jason/Lanky Lefty, about the magnets. The radius on the Phillips recalled magnets (near the mouth/jaw area, I believe) was 6 inches and the magnetic strength was 400 units (don't remember what the units are either). The magnets on the Resmed mask, similar location was much smaller radius and he estimated the strength at 150 units. No recall was anticipated for that one. The Bleep, which is used on the nose, has a radius of 2 cm (less than an inch) and the strength is 65 units. He basically said unless you have a metal rod up your nose, you're fine! Remembering that comment, I'm thinking it had to be the Lanky Lefty!
