First night it was set at 11, second night 13 and last night 15. Should I just go ahead and set it at 20 and let it maxed out? Am I missing something? I just find it mystifying that as I increase the pressure it always reaches it 95% of the time. I have kept the minimum at 7.
Yes, you're missing the meaning of the 95th percentile. It means you spent 95% of your time at that pressure or lower than that

OK…it maxed out again at 19.9 with a higher AHI than I’ve ever seen at 3.2…and more importantly I don’t feel as good.
Assuming you put min at 10 - this could mean 10 is too high a minimum.
Take your minimum back to where you felt best and post the charts.

The quality of your sleep, and how you feel the next day are indeed the most important.

Are there experts…not just these tech people who know the machines and equipment but is it common to have physicians who are experts in analyzing sleep data?
The important info for you and for anyone trying to help you is in the graphs that show how the machine is responding to your individual breathing patterns, what time of breathing disruptions appear while you sleep - etc. Those of us taking time to understand how the machine is responding to out breathing have a better chance of getting good therapy.

An auto algorithm on CPAP machines is not infallible - same as auto pilots on planes, that have been known to cause fatal accidents on both Boeing (the 737 MAX, twice recently) and Airbus (Air France 447 in 2009).
I am SOOOO glad I am not going on any flights anytime soon. Whats next, shark talk before a beach visit? (JK)

Ozij is right though, there is a lot to be gleaned from the chart. I can't help you with oscar but if you find that hard to manage and want to use Sleephq please reach out and I can help with that or watch this video. https://youtu.be/YJojSMC4zQc

Don't stress over the 95% number and listen to the advice of the veteran posters here and you should be able to find some help.

This is from last night with Oscar. It makes a csv file but can’t upload and maybe that’s not the way to do it anyway. Gosh I feel horrible today compared to the past few days. Looking at the data…and I could be way off but looks like a max of 15 works best with maybe 10 or so minimum.

Are you snoring? Does your hose scrape against anything - sometime that's mistaken for a snore.
What does your flow limitation graph look like?

Try it. And if you don't feel too horrible, stick to it for a week - or preferably two.

It doesn't look that way at all.

As soon as you fall asleep your pressure shoots up to 12 or more and doesn't fall below it.

You need to increase your minimum pressure. I'd start with a minimum pressure of 13 and then see where to go from there.

A higher minimum pressure can often reduce the need for the machine to go higher.

The wife says no snoring. This is from yesterday at 15 max and my sleep rating was 100% so. I noticed the hypopnea is always higher than Obstructive Apnea. Is that normal? OK…I’ll raise the minimum to 13 and set max at 15. I’m shocked there aren’t sleep doctors for this…

The minimum pressure setting is your most important setting choice....not the maximum.
It does the bulk of the work holding your airway open.

How much time to you spend sleeping on your back?

Experiencing any nasal congestion?

I’ll raise it to 10 as a minimum for tonight with 20 as max and see what I get. I do feel much better already. All these years and not realizing I wasn’t getting the benefit.
That's one of the perils of giving someone a CPAP and leaving them to their own devices, unless one checks their data fairly regularly, their needs change, but the machine doesn't.

When I was on a fixed pressure machine, I got lazy about checking my data, and realized after a while that I wasn't feeling as good as I did previously, I pulled the data, and my AHI had been steadily going up for the last month... That was what made me go out and get an auto machine, so it could adjust to my changing needs.

When I pull the hose off to use the bathroom that ramp starts at 4 and lasts WAY too long. That setting will change to just off. The old machine just put the mask on and give you the full force…of course it was only 7 but I did fine with that.
Many people decide that they don't need ramp after they've gotten used to breathing with a machine. Nothing unusual with that :)
Yesterday I went and put flowers on my moms grave, who died of a heart attack just a few months ago.

Last night I came home to see a truly pitiful individual dropping several piles of crap that one has to sift through for good info and a post like this with what he considers a hysterical joke.

A hysterical joke said to a bunch of people who, compared to the general population, have a higher statistical probability of actually having a heart attack due to their OSA and other related comorbidities.

But yeah you probably think it would be a real hoot to go on a diabetic support board and lol about losing an arm or a leg.

The lack of self awareness from someone calling other people haters is no surprise to me any more.

You've got an extra quote=zonker, delete the last one, also iamstumped has nothing useful.. give 'em this link instead:
wiki/index.php/Oscar:organize (just click on the wiki button and type 'oscar') :)
thank you, sir. dunno WHY that happens every know and then. prolly me being in a hurry.

oh and for others reading along, this is how you react when someone points out something to you. you say thank you and move on.
Like I told you in PM the other day-you were fortunate to learn without having to put up with the BS targeted harassment. The post above with the "whoopsies I forgot and posted this publicly instead of privately" perfectly illustrates how targeted harassment works. I would imagine Iamstumped probably didn't appreciate it.

Iamstumped is a newbie, two months further along than I am. I find that the quote feature here can get tricky at times. Even you make mistakes from time to time and you have been around. As a newbie I find that when people are trying hard to provide snarkbait, the cutoff quotes and forum style can easily result in someone making a mistake or creating misunderstanding. A misunderstanding that shouldnt result in an attack.

I had to go all the way to the first few posts just to see what was actually written. I find it interesting that adding people to their foe list publically due to "time wasting posts" almost seems silly coming from such a point of hypocrisy.

So maybe I will take your suggestion and add to the foe list. With luck, there won't be posters willing to do the private bidding of obstructionists, so much so that the nastiness gets thru the filters by otherwise decent people such as yourself reposting the hate.

Or, maybe I will reinvent myself as a newbie of another name and watch him falling all over himself to be nice for a few posts since he wont have me to target specifically. Maybe I already have.

Because I just came here to learn.

I wish this poster luck in his journey to better health and apologize for my part in going astray.

All right...enough is enough.
Personal commenting about perceived inadequacies or problems with what or how someone says something will cease and desist right now.

This road is taking the original topic way off the rails and everyone knows that I don't like to see helping threads get derailed by comments about comments.

If someone disagrees with someone about something or how they said it....state it one time and move on.
No one is going to change anyone's mind about anything with the bickering and it sure is taking away from OT here.

Quit beating or trying to beat a dead horse to further death.

Further comments about comments will be promptly removed as OT.

Thank you for getting back OT here.

If someone doesn't like what someone says....or how they say it...or anything....roll your eyeballs and say to yourself "what a fucking asshole"....and move on....don't go posting anything.....because the person rolling their eyeballs or the asshole doesn't give a rats ass what the other one thinks.

And at this point.....no one else cares either except me and it making more work for me.

I spend zero minutes on my back. I get nasal congestion sometimes when I put a drop of cannabis on a Junior mint to fall asleep. By the time it’s in my system I will be dead to the world within five minutes.

Nasal congestion can sometimes cause the machine to want to use more pressure but unfortunately more pressure won't fix a nasal congestion problem.

So if congestion isn't a common problem then we can assume the machine wanting to increase the pressures (probably due to flow limitations) is from airway issues which more pressure can help with.

You do appear to need more minimum pressure to better optimize things. How much more we don't know until we try it.
I always suggest starting with small changes though....it's more comfortable for one thing and we never know but sometimes just a little change can make a big difference in results.

Thank you Pugsy for your input.

Have any of you used a service like Singular Sleep? It looks like they have a service for $45 to have sleep data reviewed by a board-certified physician. However, I have a feeling there are several on here that have enough experience to be considered “experts” and it’s all for free with some kind words..
