jolting - waking up and insomnia or not using cpap

Hi im having an issue. Im not sure if this is something mental or physical.
so i was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (obstructive sleep apnea), was having about 90 events per hour when i first did my sleep study. blood oxygen was 80% or so.
when i first did started cpap i did it for a month, i was breathing in very hard and felt like i wasnt able to breath with the mask on. breathing in hard was causing my lungs or chest to burn and hurt. so i stopped after that first month.
so after 6 months after quitting using the cpap machine, One night, i experienced a feeling where i couldn't breathe at all when i tried to sleep.. as soon as i tried to lay down, it was like i was just totally choked or my whole windpipe was not working at all. I felt tight all over my head as if my windpipe or throat and head were just shut (i know this sounds weird but its best i can describe it).
After a while i was experiencing total insomnia. i was waking up jolting all the time and just felt super tight all over my mind. when i tried to sleep it was like someone was zapping me up or something and i couldnt rest. I had to go back to sleep doctor and i started using the cpap machine again and it was very hard to start off again. I was experiencing insomnia. I couldnt sleep at all and i was just laying there not able to sleep cause i kept on jolting awake even with mask on.
mind you, i believe i was having insomnia due to some personal life experiences as well, i had my first anxiety attack and thought i was going to have a heart attack or a stroke etc. I was also going through alot of stress with work, home, cars, financing, wife and kid. So im not sure if i was having so much stress that i couldnt sleep or if i somehow developed Central Sleep Apena. (i read OSA can lead to CSA)
Anyway, before cpap and the personal events that happened in my life, i use to sleep long hours. ill sleep at midnight, wake up 3 times a night to urinate and go back to sleep each time and wake up at around 9am. but now, ill sleep at 1030pm and wake up at 3am or 4am and not be able to sleep. if i have to wake up to urinate, i am not able to go back to sleep at all, ill just be up all night. I get about 3 to 5 hours of sleep at night. and i never experienced this before. However, i am not really sleepy or tired or take naps during the day like i use to, however i am not sure if its cause the cpap therapy is working very well and my body no longer needs the 8 - 9 hours of sleep and my quality of sleep has been condensed to 4 - 5 hours or if i am experiencing insomnia and my brain is still having issues sleeping.
if i dont use the cpap machine, ill have those experience of jolting and when i use cpap i still feel tight but ill eventually sleep and breathe. my pressure averages about 13.. anyway, does this sound familiar to anyone? I feel like if my cpap were to stop working that ima die in my sleep or that the 'mental' tightness is gonna get so strong that ima end up a vegetable or brain dead. When i first did my sleep study, i slept that night just fine with 90 events an hour, no 'mental' tightness, no nothing, i think i slept better then than i do now , even though i dont feel tired during the day now.. but then again.. not sure if its cause cpap is working very well or if i am having insomnia.
anyway, sorry for long post, nobody might even read this but any help would great. thanks
