airsense 11 pressure
airsense 11 pressure
I just got an airsense 11 auto and find it really annoying that in between breaths it feels like it's putting negative pressure (i.e. sucking instead of blowing); I much prefer the constant pressure my philips does. Is this an auto thing or would the regular version do the same thing?
Re: airsense 11 pressure
Sounds like you have EPR turned on. If you do....turn it off.
If it is already off can you share exactly what your pressure settings are?

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
Re: airsense 11 pressure
cpap.com (and I was able to google the clinical manual) gave me the way to get into the real settings on it, and they had the pressure set too low; I put it where it should be and actually turned EPR up and now it feels just like my Philips, except a lot quieter, smaller and lighter ;-)
Re: airsense 11 pressure
Continuos Positive Airway Pressure machines *NEVER* create a negative pressure no matter what it may "feel" like.

Re: airsense 11 pressure
The IMPRESSION of "negative pressure" occurs because of the lighter
POSITIVE pressure, which is intended to ease exhalation.
I would not be surprised if your new APAP was delivered unadjusted--
--that is, left on factory default settings. (4-20)
Laziness, or the dealer did not have, or "lost" the prescribed settings.
Nice that you are able to observe the difference between Resmed
and "that which is cheaper"--(and now you know why).
For years, DMEs have been in the habit of delivering APAPs left on factory defaults,
--because they prefer the higher profit from selling an el cheapo machine?
Possibly, just a touch of spite--or hope that good machines may be traded down--
with them pocketing the difference in cost.
