As this remains an ongoing challenge, here are some simple instructions on how to add images from an external site like Imgur.
1. Go to Imgur.com
2. Click on “new post”
3. Either drag your images into the “drop images here” area or click on “chose photo/video” and follow the prompts to either select it from your photo library or other source
4. Click on the picture once uploaded, then click on the “copy link” button when it appears
5. Come back to the forum and add it to a post using the little image icon and paste the link from step 4 between the img and /img - note you may have to add a “.jpg” extension to the pasted link for it to work
Voila. Le fin.
EDIT 11/27/23 Some people are having problems getting the images or links with the above instructions.
Some sort of problem with steps 4 and 5.
I suggest that people go here and read my instructions as they are different.

I can no longer get imgur to work for me on Chromebook so I have been using Postimages: https://postimages.org/
You choose your image and it will load a thumbnail in the left hand corner. You can scroll down to thumbnail for forums and copy that link to put on the page and then after you post in here there should be a small image to click on for the original version. It's free and you don't have to have an acct.

Thanks for the hints to use an external server. Used my personal server to host my images and it seems to work just fine. I'll leave them up a week or so and then delete to save my own storage.
