No air?

Post by dekkercofficial » Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:04 pm

So when the mask is off my face its blowing quite a bit of air. When its on I barely feel it. If at all? Is that normal?

welcome to the zoo!

as julie says, perfectly normal. and it really isn't quite a bit. did you know that the pressure coming out isn't enough to blow up a toy balloon?

If you have ever been on a car ride with a dog,
note what makes them happiest.
Channel your inner hound.
Suck in that wonderful air.

Because one has nothing to do with the other.

The machine delivers (or tries to) a set pressure.

You can't have any pressure without resistance to the airflow, no face on the other end of the hose, no pressure, so the poor machine tries harder, up to it's limit of trying.

Put your ear on the machine and listen to the blower, when the mask encounters a face, the blower slows *way* down.

I'm not sure exactly. The machine is is set from 4 to 20 and last night it was at a pressure average of 12.3. And thanks guys. New user here so just making sure everything is correct.

Yup. Normal. The system is quite gentle.

I use a P10 pillow mask and, when I close my eyes, I am unaware of the mask. This seemed so strange when I first started therapy that I took my mask off a few times to check for air flow. Given this gentle output plus my extremely quiet AirSense 11 Autoset, sometimes the whole thing seems a farce, like some sort of Western movie facade on the back lot of Paramount.

But it works. No complaints. And I have come to look forward to bedtime. The rhythmic air flow relaxes me.

I put my hand up to the mask vent and feel an odd sense of comfort at the air coming out.
