Oscar installation problem. Please help

We downloaded, installed and it freezes after installation. Somewhere I have read what Pugsy said to do in this situation but can’t find it back. I have used this program for years but when we tried to update it, we could not reinstall. Thank you for whatever help you can give me.

Not necessarily what is happening but doesn't hurt to check.

This happened to my brother's OSCAR install.
Somehow he accidentally changed the Graphics Engine to Software Engine.
Oscar wasn't actually freezing but taking a very long time to do whatever it needed to do.

Once it was changed back to Desktop OpenGL, everything was back to normal.

The setting is under File / Preferences / General
