AirSense 11 Availability

Post by southerndoc » Wed Dec 22, 2021 6:03 pm

Has anyone been able to locate an online vendor that sells the AirSense 11 yet?

I saw one a couple of weeks ago.... I had major sticker shock...$1499 for the AutoSet.

So just now I checked again.
I don't remember if this was the place I saw a couple of weeks ago but this is the only online retail hit I got with my search.

https://www.theperfectcpap.com/products ... ne-package

Be prepared for more major sticker shock.

I know nothing about this place.

Hmmmm...mine shows "brand new" but they also say they offer "lightly used".

I know nothing about them and so far they are the only online retailers that are advertising having the AirSense 11.

It may be the website someone else said they had a bad feeling about but I don't remember the reason. If it is they went from 1499 to 1600.

I disclosed I know nothing about this retailer and I assume southerndoc is a big boy and can do his own due diligence and make up his own mind about things.

I do think that ResMed knows they have people by the short hairs and that's why all the prices have gone up even on the AirSense 10 models...and if people are waiting until the AirSense 11 models can be had for the old AirSense 10 price of 883 for the AutoSet.....I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Yea, those are expensive. I'll keep chugging along with my AS10 until prices are better. I met my deductible on my BC/BS plan this year, but the DME could only dispense in December due to supply issues. I would have to return it in January because we're switching insurance to Cigna. The Cigna policy has a very high deductible, so I'm probably just going to pay out of pocket like I did 5 years ago.

I bought one two days ago, Rapid City SD. The DME is part of our hospital corp system. I had talked to them back in the first week of Oct and was told they had plenty of Airsense 10s, both refurbished and new, and was quoted $500 - $800. But when I went in two days ago, they said they only had the 11s, because that's all ResMed sent them this month. I paid just over $1500. I tried to haggle down the price by referencing the invoice line item break down per accessory, like the tank, etc, but they said the machine and parts came as a kit and that's how they sell them. Later, I can buy my own accessories elsewhere of course. I didn't go through insurance. I paid out of pocket because insurance will yank coverage if you don't hit their minimum usage per night.

I don't anticipate much of an online inventory from the usual online retailers until probably sometime next year for the AirSense 11 models. ResMed is shipping to hospitals and DMEs and doctors' clinics first since there is a current shortage due to the Respironics recall.
My crystal ball is broken so I can't do anything but guess....but maybe early spring we will see an online inventory being available...and expect them to be quite pricey when they arrive.

Folks remember who all these manufacturers consider their customers to be and it ain't us the patients or end users.
It's the DMEs and doctors who they want to make happy first and foremost. That's why Respironics has encrypted the data and locking us out...that's why half assed bricks are still sold.

oh, sorry! i meant to say that they ALSO show used machines, because i was focusing on that but never got it out of my brain and onto the keyboard.

my thinking is "how do you have a used machine when these are so brand new?". i mean, yeah, it's only a thousand hours. and yeah, people DO give up on cpap. it just strikes me as peculiar given the shortage of these machines, is all.

Kaiser Permanente just sent me a ResMed AirSense 11 Autoset via Apria, their supplier. They were on backorder due to the recall (mentioned above) and so it took me five weeks to get it.

Consider yourself lucky Buckaroo. Apria promised me an AirSense 11 at the beginning of October and I'm still waiting.

Yes, Randy, I am quite fortunate. Kaiser is based in the Bay Area; perhaps the supply line here is moving faster due to our proximity to Home Base. More local Kaiser members => greater local resources? Just a guess.

Hope yours arrives soon. Did you call Apria? I called at the four week point and didn't exactly complain but asked for an update; suddenly, just a couple of days later, the AirSense 11 arrived. Magic. :)

Thanks for the encouragement.

I live about 100 miles south of you, and Apria has a warehouse in Modesto. I've called 3 times, and while they are pleasant on the phone, they can't/won't provide any useful information.

Randy, that's exactly the way it was for me, too. I called but they couldn't tell me anything. In fact, they couldn't even tell me where I was on the queue or if I was scheduled to receive one the machines that had just come in. They had no information.

Then something peculiar happened: I received my machine even though they'd never even sent the promised email message to let me know it was being shipped. And, get this: There was something written in large letters on the box in Sharpie pen, crossed out, and my name was written in Sharpie right underneath that. So, I wonder whether the machine was due to go out to another patient but they gave it to me instead?

Check the run hours, Bucky.
If they promised a new machine, the hours should be zero.

I don't see the attraction of the 11 over the 10. From this forum, it seems to me the 11 is lacking some basic accessories so far. DC cord, battery, replacement heated hose...
AirSence 10 Autoset, Dreamstation 2 backup, Swift FX, Z1 for travel.
