Yep. Works like a nasal pillow but without the little bit of stuff that goes inside the nostril.

I can't remember if I tried a pillow. But one gal said most people don't like the air blowing straight into the nose. Wish I could remember if I tried one.

Actually if one looks at the actual sale numbers....nasal pillow masks are probably at the very top of the best seller list.
and another news flash...the air goes straight up the nose with an over the nose cushion mask like the N20.
There's really only one way for air to go up the nose no matter which mask is used.

You know what is creepier? Earning a salary by sitting in a little room all night watching people in adjacent rooms sleeping on camera; watching the people snore and choke; and turning dials to pump air into the people!

Thank you. I am so glad I found this forum. Professionals hate it, but online forums where you can talk to real people and hear about their experiences are so much more helpful than they are!

After I had my fitting, I told my daughter, the DME lady was vey nice but she didn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer. Getting the impression that was the correct impression. I wonder if it's too late to change DMEs. I think there's one more in town that takes Medicaid.

I am beginning to understand that this is really complicated and maybe that's why so many people fail. First, they don't find a forum so are stuck with a "professional" at a DME. Second, their insurance limits their choices so they are stuck with a mask that doesn't work for them. They can't afford to try over and over so they give up.

Chicagogranny, do you mind my asking, are you in the city? I used to live and teach in the northern burbs before I moved back to WI to be near my aging parents/in-laws. My brother and his wife are in the city and absolutely love it.

Probably not the sharpest knife and from what you have said so far I think if she told me the sun rose in the east and set in the west that I would have to go outside to look.

Either way though....ignorant or bold face lie machine...unacceptable care.
And it is never too late to change DME suppliers if you want to change. Some paperwork hoops to jump through but you can change at any time. Just have to make sure they take Medicaid of course.

I think I have to wait until it's time to get new supplies to switch. Not sure when that is. The sleep doc told me to go back to the sleep lab and tell them I'm having troubles. I'm weary of all of this.

It's never too late to change DMEs.
If you are contracted for a machine, there is no good reason
why you have to get everything else from them.
Especially if the staff is not doing THEIR JOB.
Dump those clowns--ASAP!

This was helpful to read about.

The vague "noncompliance with treatment" or even "patient could not tolerate CPAP therapy" is too general. I have been having trouble finding info about "Patient is physically unable to fall asleep wearing mask and having compressed air rammed down throat." I would have assumed that my problem is very common, although my insomnia tendencies are worse than most people's.
