Question on TapPap Instructions

Post by kteague » Tue Aug 17, 2021 3:39 am

Ran out of stickies for my Bleep and thought, no big deal, got an unopened TapPap in the closet I can use as backup till I get more. Anyone know why they say not to use the TapPap with a broken tooth? (I have a broken tooth.) Is it because the tooth might be weakened and break further or because the mouthpiece will cause it to decay faster further? Going to use it tonight, but need to know the risks I'm adding to continue using it.

Not sure exactly but I think the broken tooth warning is because the tooth might be weakened and sometimes getting that mouth guard off is a struggle and they are afraid of breaking the tooth even more.

My brother had a removable tooth and a mask like a tap pap.
He found that molding the mouthpiece with the tooth in prevented pressure
and discomfort on nearby tissues even when he slept with the tooth out.
If it were me, I would do what I could to widen the cavity around the cracked tooth,
even if it took some Dremel or hot knife work.
