I am doing well

Post by Surly Abond » Thu Mar 10, 2005 8:17 pm

Thank you very much most kind posters,

I now have PC in my home. No longer is necessary to use PC at book repository.

It has been nearly 2 months since I begin breathing machine treatment. I am doing very well indeed. I no longer have feeling of tirdness . Tyco automatic breathing machine is operating very well .

Many blessings to most kind posters for assistance in choice of breathing machine and adjustment.

I have still to choose country to emigrate. My family want very much to visit Austin, Texas . Weather is much favorable to Canada or UK.

Please visit book repository . I am very proud of our library.

Many Blessing ,

Welcome back Surly,

I'm happy to hear your treatment is going well. Your library is amazing. Cheers for your new PC as well. You no longer need to post from your workplace at the book repository.

Austin is a great town . I'm sure you will enjoy living there.

Cheers,

Chris

Surly!!! It's good to hear from you again!

It is very nice of you to give us an update on how you are doing. I'm happy to hear the Tyco machine is treating you well.

Congratulations on having a PC at home now. I'm sure you are enjoying it.

I agree with Chris - the library is awesome.

Welcome back.

Wow! What a library!

Hi Surly,

As a confirmed book lover and reader, and someone who has worked in libraries most of my life, I am impressed. Although I am now working for our family business making precision glass parts, I LOVE libraries and books.

It is good to have a followup on your progress -- I'm so glad that you are having success with your treatment -- it makes all the difference, doesn't it?

I think that you would like the US as far as immigration goes, but my ex-husband has been living in Scotland for several years now and likes it, and he was a confirmed California boy, so the UK might not be too bad either.

Thanks for staying in touch!

Surly, it is definitely good to hear from you after your absence. And good to know your treatment is progressing in a positive direction.

Chrisp and I are most definitely prejudice to Austin as we both live near there. Is still has a bit of "small town" atmosphere, but it has many of the cultural advantages of larger cities. The people overall are very friendly and tolerate of not only other ethnicities but other lifestyles.

Warning ! Non PC note to follow !

I agree with you on most of the points Janelle. But the "Other Lifestyles " is way off. In Austin there are certainly "other lifestyles ." However , Getting "other lifestyles" jammed down my throat , Oops, by those could hardly be called acceptible. Its more like in your face . Its tolerated for fear of being attacked as a homophobe or gay basher.

That said. Austin is a great place for a high end book business. Lots of money floating around looking for an investment.

You could do much worse than Austin, TX. The weather is nice most days also. Perhaps like Kalatta but not as steamy.

Cheers,

Chris

Hey, but at least other lifestyles are "tolerated", as well as people of different races, colors and religions. And that is certainly a lot better than living where their is extreme bigotry against anything "different". That was my point.

Our pizza place in Dripping Springs is run by a Korean Christian minister and his family. I get my nails done by a Vietnamese immigrant. I have a spine specialist who is East Indian, and an allergist who is likewise. Lot of East Indians in the medical professions here, in fact.

Korean Pizza. What are the toppings ? Sea slug, roast locust ? Don't forget the kimchee. Now thats a pizza. I lived in Korea a bit. How do they cook a pizza on those charcoal cookers ? Do they sell snakes from a basket ? Do they deliver by Da Woo LeMans. I loved Korea. Combat shopping is what we called it . Beer was good too.

My guess is, people in Austin aren't any more tolerant than anywhere else. They just like to think they are.

Too see how tolerant they are just disagree with them. Then you will really see what they are made of. My guess is that you will be labeled public enemy # 1 by the PC Gestapo.

Politically correct

Post by WillSucceed » Mon Mar 14, 2005 1:44 pm

I've always wondered how it is that the concept of treating people in a manner that is fair and respectful (in essence, treating others as one would want to be treated) turned into being 'politically correct?"

I think that if we just behaved respectfully toward others, no matter who the 'others' are, none of us would need to work at being 'politically correct.' Further, if we were respectful, no one would need to get upset and demand 'political correctness.'

What is the matter with just being decent to others?

You see people love to be victims. Poor me. Its become the popular thing to do. They go about looking for ways to be offended.

Now in some places you're a monstor for driving a big car. Just do the math. It isn't worth paying extra to get a hybrid car. You pay way more to save a few gallons. But those that have them have elevated themselves to the PC environment gestapo.

Years ago in Ausin a guy "killed "an oak tree . Treaty Oak it was called.

He got life in prison ! Last year Treaty Oak had a bumper crop of acorns.
How did he kill it if its still alive?

Thats what we're talking about.

Cheers,

Chris

Surly, we are so glad to hear that you are doing well on your 420e AutoPAP! Good luck on your upcoming immigration to the destination of your choice, my friend!

For anyone interested in more details about the the Treaty Oak story told by Chrisp, here's a follow-up link: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/treatyoak/hist1.htm

We should all have Chrisp tell us more interesting and humorous stories as he always does here... perhaps around the camp fire! Just so long as that's not Treaty Oak we're burning!

SWS, thanks for this link! Is it possible to get all weepy-eyed over a story about a tree?
....I think SO! Never been to Austin, but my folks have (live in Mission, TX) and they love that region of Texas. I understand it's a great place for music! I've always wanted to visit.

More stories!!! Love them stories!!
