Video recording yourself while sleeping all night??

Post by Ronin » Sat Oct 03, 2020 11:42 pm

Good morning all!

There has been numerous studies that state, that apnea episodes are greatly increased based upon sleeping position.
Has anyone recorded themselves via video all night to see which positions you are in , which initiates an apnea episode? If so, were you able to use your smartphone? or???what did you use?

Thank you. Timothy

Smartphones don't work in the dark.

You'll need a camera with IR capability.

I have used a Wyze camera to record sleep time. It has worked well.

And I can watch the recorded video on my smartphone. :D

Currently using video. I borrowed a security camera system and it has two cameras which I set for different angles. It's a major pain watching and fast forwarding through a single nights video. Take a lot of notes if you do it.

A better option is a sleep position monitor which graphs your position through the night. I'm using Somnopose app on Iphone. Problem is it cannot be used with android. Somnopose is compatible with Oscar so you can import the data and compare it to flow rate and such. I sewed a pocket on the chest of a tight fitting t-shirt. It show's any movement, even if you move only a limb it still is sensitive enough to record that.

Having both video and Somnopose I mainly study the Somnopose graph now. I can tell pretty well what's going on by just looking at that graph.
