i just thought i'd shake things up, sheriff.Sheriff Buford wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 6:11 amZonker: your new avatar threw me off for a minute too. I've kept mine for a long time. I remember Pugs used to have an avatar with deers on it, but she has kept the one she has now for a long time too. There's usually an interesting story behind our avatars.....

Humans are the only animals that have chins.
The three little pigs lied to the big, bad wolf.“Little pig, little pig, let me come in,” says the big, bad wolf. “No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin,” say the three little pigs.
I strongly suspect chins are there to keep the jaw from dropping inside foam cervical collars. So, why do chins exist? Nobody knows why.

Humans are the only species that have chins. Other primates don't have them, other mammals don't have them, neanderthals didn't have them. Only humans, well except for Phil Leads.

two cbc podcasts are good. "spark" which is about current technology. it's less than an hour with the commercials gone.. another cbc one is "quirks & quarks" which is science based and again under an hour. both are cbc radio productions.

Thanks, Zonker! I'm going to try some of these. I greatly prefer podcasts to music when I'm walking/jogging. Even though fast songs can make me walk or run faster, I get bored and my mind will still wander to unwanted worries. But I need to get away from news podcasts, too depressing. I tend to listen to news or current events analysis or opinion podcasts such as 'The Weeds', 'The Argument', 'The Daily Beans', 'Rumble', 'The Young Turks', the NYT 'The Daily'. But those are not healthy for my stress level. So science, tech, comedy would be better for me.zonker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 1:51 pmtwo cbc podcasts are good. from abc (australia) i get "download this show" 1/2 hr tech. also from abc "all in the mind" which is just what it says. anything do with the brain and mind and such.
from the states "this week in tech" which usually a two hours, with commercials, and can stretch to three hours if they get gabby.
i'm currently going back through old time radio. i'm a huge fan of jack benny and fibber mcgee and molly.
other things which won't come to mind until i hit submit.
my goal is to have my ear filled with something as i take my mid day stroll.
