Hey! I thought we had all agreed to find a way a way to blame PR for everything we do in this forum, not me. In fact, I think that's in the sign-up agreement now.

Zonker: your new avatar threw me off for a minute too. I've kept mine for a long time. I remember Pugs used to have an avatar with deers on it, but she has kept the one she has now for a long time too. There's usually an interesting story behind our avatars.....

Sheriff
i just thought i'd shake things up, sheriff.

i'll prolly keep the current one forever as i'm far too lazy to think up another one.

besides, how could i top this?

No.

Humans are the only species that have chins. Other primates don't have them, other mammals don't have them, neanderthals didn't have them. Only humans, well except for Phil Leads.

Humans are the only animals that have chins.
“Little pig, little pig, let me come in,” says the big, bad wolf. “No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin,” say the three little pigs.
The three little pigs lied to the big, bad wolf.
So, why do chins exist? Nobody knows why.

I strongly suspect chins are there to keep the jaw from dropping inside foam cervical collars.

the only way i keep the days apart is that wednesday is "go look at the property day" and the rest are certain podcasts on certain days.
Just wondering, what are some of your podcast recommendations/favorites? I'm always interested to find new good ones.

two cbc podcasts are good. "spark" which is about current technology. it's less than an hour with the commercials gone.. another cbc one is "quirks & quarks" which is science based and again under an hour. both are cbc radio productions.

from abc (australia) i get "download this show" 1/2 hr tech. also from abc "all in the mind" which is just what it says. anything do with the brain and mind and such.

from the states "this week in tech" which usually a two hours, with commercials, and can stretch to three hours if they get gabby.

i'm currently going back through old time radio. i'm a huge fan of jack benny and fibber mcgee and molly.

other things which won't come to mind until i hit submit.

my goal is to have my ear filled with something as i take my mid day stroll.

Thanks, Zonker! I'm going to try some of these. I greatly prefer podcasts to music when I'm walking/jogging. Even though fast songs can make me walk or run faster, I get bored and my mind will still wander to unwanted worries. But I need to get away from news podcasts, too depressing. I tend to listen to news or current events analysis or opinion podcasts such as 'The Weeds', 'The Argument', 'The Daily Beans', 'Rumble', 'The Young Turks', the NYT 'The Daily'. But those are not healthy for my stress level. So science, tech, comedy would be better for me.

I'd love to hear any podcast suggestions from others.

as i predicted, remembered more after i hit submit,

grammar girl-various lengths from 8 minutes to 30. not merely grammar but word origins, which i like.

a way with words-less than one hour as it is a radio show. npr? pri? can't remember. mostly this is origins of phrases or sayings that get handed down.

the larry miller show-this is stand up comic larry miller who has also done some tv acting work. not sure if it would be in your wheel house or not. another one that ranges from around 30 minute up to 60.

and yeah, as i've mentioned elsewhere, i'm trying to limit my intake of covid-19 news. there isn't really much hard news to be had day to day anyway. so i just watch one news show and then seek out any articles that i hear about,

don't need no stinkin' stress!
