So apparently following that feeling I stumbled upon more eye opening information on how sleep apnea can be a silent killer and bully.

What a freaking bully! and coward silent killer.
Such a tricky silent disease... I remember learning about it briefly during classes but no one even remotely raised awareness, especially since it is a treatable condition!
Treating these people for symptoms especially mental ones without addressing apnea is like putting nails into their coffin and telling them "it's all in your head"
I am puzzled, I spent the entire night reading about apnea. It's 8 am.
I got the Polysomnography with EEG hooked up and works fine, interpretation is a problem.

this should help
gotta go...
Sleep Apnea often misdiagnosed
Re: Sleep Apnea often misdiagnosed
sleep was once called the 'nightly nurse' for a reason. I am just starting treatment for UARS and I've experienced significantly elevated moods and energy

The term "bully" is wholly inappropriate in this context. It is off misused.

Especially from the bully pulpit!
I know OSA very nearly beat me up beyond recovery. Glad I eventually got to PAP therapy.

Re: Sleep Apnea often misdiagnosed
OSA beat me up pretty good.
I never thought of it as a "bully", but a homicidal maniac,
bent on making me suffer before finally letting me die.
In my experience, bullies are insecure, angry, pathetic creatures who themselves suffer.
I suspect the poster is not a natural English speaker.

Re: Sleep Apnea often misdiagnosed
Depression makes sense.
Not enough sleep and cortisol doesn't lower (it needs deep sleep - stage 4 from what I have read - to lower and that is typically the last stage we get after the others are satisfied).
Cortisol and Testosterone work opposite each other (so cortisol goes higher, testosterone goes lower).
Low testosterone has depression components.
Common symptoms are wanting to isolate typically combined with shorter temper because dealing with people is a bother and irritating - as is dealing with the common struggles of life).
Feeling life is gray and not good (I have heard it described more like this than other depression descriptions but it can go there also).
So sleep apnea yields higher cortisol which yields lower testosterone which creates depression symptoms.
