Did Lansinoh change?

Post by tisket » Fri Jun 05, 2020 6:45 am

Bought a tube of Lansinoh HPA a few years ago it has always been thick and clear like Vaseline. The tube is now cracking and leaking in the sides so I decided it was time for a new one.

To my surprise all I can find in "Lansinoh Nipple Cream" which is whitish, thinner and more liquid. I don't even see the original product on Lansinoh's web site. Did anyone else notice this change? Did they discontinue their old product?

I've only recently started using it here, having bought it about 2 months or so ago. I can't say if it has ever changed, but what I have is definitely not thin or liquid-like. Are you sure you got the right product? Where did you purchase it? Can you post a photo so it can be positively identified?

EDIT: I did a quick search and there are 2 products that Lansinoh makes: Lanolin Nipple Cream and HPA Lanolin Cream. I don't know what the difference is, but the latter item isn't listed on their US website. It can be found on Amazon, but I would be wary of counterfeit products in categories like this.

I got it on Amazon and it is the only lanolin product on the Lansinoh company web site.

My old tube does not have the word "cream" on it. It says Lanolin HPA. This product no longer appears on the company web site.

There apparently is a "new" product called organic nipple balm and it's in a jar. I wonder if that is more like the older formula?????

I doubt it, it has tons of ingredients. Old tube was pure Lanolin.

I just called their customer service. The rep said the Lansinoh Lanolin Cream is the same product/same formulation/same viscosity as Lansinoh HPS Lanolin. It's just a renaming.

It's almost summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Lansinoh Lanolin is runnier the warmer the room temperature.

I have the two tubes side by side. The old one is like a thick heavy Vaseline ointment. The new one is like a white moisturizer cream.

Thanks for calling them. Very strange how my two tubes are so different.

Maybe your old one is partially dried out? Moisture could have escaped by evaporating from the cracks in the tube.

It's always been like Vaseline. I am sure I am not the only one here who has used lanolin over the years, what are your experiences?

I still have a tube I bought years ago. Yes, it is more like vasoline and has always been that way. Summer or winter...thick and no where near what I would call a consistency of cream.
I have not needed to buy another tube so I can't compare old vs new.
Sorry...and I really have no way to compare unless I go buy a new tube and I simply don't have a need to buy one just to compare the viscosity of the product now.

Sounds like a counterfeit product.
Lansinoh might want a sample--for evidence.
Call them.

No, if you look at the picture on their own site, it's now a white cream.

Different product but...I have had quality control issues with my toothpaste. I buy the same (major name brand) toothpaste, have for years. I got one tube that literally POURED out of the tube! I GSK re quality control and they sent me a coupon for a new tube. It could be a quality control issue. Those things happen occasionally.

Funnily enough I have just bought my first tube today (in Uk) and the packaging and tube are exactly as per the photo in previous post. The cream itself is thick and whitish but still translucent like Vasaline White Petroleum Jelly and similar consistancy. (I t does not look as white as it appears in the aforementioned photo.. Still says 100% Lansinoh HPA Lanolin. No idea what it may have looked like in the past however. As long as it works I don't care.
