Total Use Time Wrong = New AirSense 10 Machine is Stopping/Starting Malfunction?

Post by asylum23 » Sun Mar 01, 2020 8:56 pm

Received the AirSense 10 a week and a half ago. Since then, the total use time has been wrong every day.

Then I'm getting the "You are not in compliance" texts and emails. Except I have used the machine anywhere from 6 to 11 hours each day. Never less than 4 hours.

It has taken a while to figure out, luckily the OSCAR Program allowed me to see what's happening. Easiest is to share Screenshots. While I'm asleep, apparently the program is starting/stopping, over and over again. The air never seems to stop, but if you view the data, it appears maybe it has.

Machine is plugged in. I do not see any interference. Has anyone ever seen this before? To Medicare it appears I'm not in Compliance, but the machine is actually at fault from what I can tell here. Thank you.

I have seen it before but not this bad with a ResMed machine.

It needs to be returned to the supplier.

Thanks so much. Thought I was losing it. Sleep 8 hours, it says 3, sleep 5 hours, it says 2. Grateful for OSCAR and sites like this since I'm now "Not in compliance."

I really appreciate it. Came from Binson's, can go back there. Thank you.

Update: new machine, same model, AirSense 10 Auto. And exact same issue is happening.

Time is correct, I turned Off ramping, the Auto On/Off was and is Off, I am using distilled water.

I start each session with 5 min. of Smiley Face. I used the Small mask, then Medium, now Small again. Happy face. Have tried 6 different electric sockets, all with surge protection.

I sleep, it is not mattering nap or night sleep, for 6 to 11 hours total, every day. I understand about Noon resets.

And this AirSense says I sleep 2 to 4 hours total, with removing my mask 10+ times an hour! The total time is completely wrong. I do not remove my mask.

Bonus: Start/Stop times each session have an instance of going BACKWARDS in time. Every single session.

I sat for 2 hours on computer, awake, let it run. Then look at data = said 1 hour total use and I removed mask 6 times.

I am at a total loss. I do not know how to troubleshoot this any further. The DME folks have "never heard of this". I am getting slammed with multiple daily calls, texts, VM's, and emails saying I'm Not in Compliance. I wear this thing every time I sleep. My Daily Use Hours showing is around 3 to 4, less than half the actual time of use and what it should say.

Please see data above. New machine and same results. I can put on mask and hit Stop once per hour, it will say 28 minutes used.
My DME are not helping, neither is Sleep Dr., now Medicare wants to not pay for this equipment.
Please help, any suggestions? What else can I check or change? The Ramp and Auto On/Off are not turned On.

Thank you.

Try removing the surge protection and plugging directly into the wall. I know it sounds like nonsense, but that's what they once told me to do.

Also, tell them you want a Dream Station instead. Most of those posting on this forum like the Airsense better, but since you're having problems with it, try another brand.

Note also that this could be a problem with your breathing. Not necessarily a medical issue, but perhaps just with the way you breathe and the algorithm on this particular machine.

Thank you. I also did try the electricity with no surge protection, then others with surge protection, in case it might be that. I jiggled around the plug on both machines, reseated the plugs, used 2 different memory cards, checked the time on CPAP.

DME were actually good about giving me a 2nd machine, except it's doing the same thing. I've tried to explain to them what is happening, show them the #'s, the graphs, start/end times, how it's not running for 30 minutes straight, they honestly do not know what I am talking about. Which is weird.

Googling this exact issue, I have found about a dozen other Patients stating their machine was doing this. And they all had a ResMed 10 it seems. Tho I see no solution on any of those posts either, going back a few years.

Have you called ResMed? Some of the technicians are very helpful. 1 (800) 424-0737
