Best inexpensive FFM that does not leak at bridge of nose?

Post by juliep » Wed Feb 05, 2020 10:24 pm

I use a Simplus FFM. The problem is it always leaks at the bridge of the nose and upper sides of the nose. The bottom part by my mouth is fine, since the headgear attaches right there, and I can tighten it if there is a leak. But on top, the headgear does not attach by the bridge of the nose to seal down leaks, but instead by the top of my forehead. Why did Fisher and Paykel design it so stupidly?

When the mask cushion leaks by the bridge, if I just use my fingers to press down on the cushion there, that stops the leak. If only the headgear attached there, that would fix the problem. So I probably need an FFM that attaches by the bridge of the nose, and not high up. What do you recommend? Nothing fancy, like that Dreamwear. Just something that is low cost.

Thanks.

Also...why does it say I have only 2 posts, and these two posts had to be approved before appearing here just now? I am certain I posted here a year ago, like 10 or 20 times.

I had that issue with F10, but Mirage Quattro has been great

I wear only nasal pillows, as nobody makes a full face mask that fits my itty bitty nose.
I have tried numerous full face masks--but none really fits . . .

Go to Cpap.com and check out the Amara View. Note, any size mask will fit the headgear and you can order replacements separately. All at a reasonable price for out of pocket purchase.

It seems to me like you have competing priorities, comfort / performance or low cost.

Pretty much all of the masks worth using are all in the same ball park.

I just did a quick search on cpap.com, the Dreamwear actually came in about $30 less than the F30i ($150), and Airfit F20 also $150,

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/philip ... k-fit-pack

I personally recommend atleast one of the F30 variants. Be careful, you're right at the edge of tripping and falling down the Right Mask Rabbit Hole.
Yay :D For no more diaphragm cramps and dozing off while driving!

I use a Simplus FFM.
If you like the simplus otherwise, then a mask liner from padacheek.com may be all you need to tame the leaks.

Second on this, the bridge of my nose is Recessed and any mask that uses the bridge never works for me. Amara and one other one were the only ones that didn't leak at the bridge. (unfortunately they leaked at the edges of my mouth because of my deep face and wide mouth.)
The cloth mask also didn't leak at the bridge though is problematic for me for other reasons. There are also Total face masks that also don't use the bridge that work for some, though they weren't good for my "thin Deep" face architecture.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

I have absolutely no idea what a "thin deep face architecture" is. :?: I can't even come up with any images of what you are talking about.

However, I will tell you that I use a Resmed AirTouch F20 which is a full face mask with a memory foam liner. The memory foam sits on the skin and evens out all the nooks and crannies around the nose and mouth. It's comfortable for me and I have minimal leaks. The bridge of my nose is small, other than that I have no idea what kind of face architecture I have. :D

Air Touch F20 is probably what you need. It's memory foam fills all gaps easily. I don't see any significant leaks, and I roll around a lot where the mask gets mashed against the pillow, but stays leak free.

I had wondered if I would need to get my nose enlarged in order to wear full face masks.
Unfortunately, then my glasses would not fit.
And I might no longer be cute.
