Anyone try/look into surgery?
I was just wondering if anyone has looked into surgery to correct their apnea. I know if someone did it and it was successful, they probably wouldn't be on this forum any more. But was wondering if anyone tried and it wasn't successful - or at least looked into it? I made an appointment with an ENT to see if it would be a possibility for me. Thanks, Ed.
I had surgery 3 years ago, removed tonsils + +. And after the surgery I said to myself that everything was ok now.
It wasn't. I know the O2 level raised from minimum 72 to 87, but my AHI did not change, it was the same before and after the surgery (30)
I remember the doctor said to me that many people need a cpap even after surgery, but I did not belive him. But after 3 years of feeling sick I had to admit that he was right and I was wrong.

Looked into Surgery
I looked into A Tap-T device a few months ago and was advised against it. Then I checked into Surgery, LAUP and the Pillar Procedure. This was at the Mayo Clinic. I am definitely a candidate for surgery since I have a long soft palette, however I have been told several times that the surgery is very painful and needs to be done in increments so as not to remove too much tissue. The Pillar Procedure stiffens the soft palette by inserting small rods into the palette. I am told that that procedure is just a painful. I think I'll just stick to the CPAP since I hate pain.
I hope this helps.
