Resmed Aircurve quick help.

Post by Hawk600 » Tue Oct 01, 2019 11:29 am

How can I differentiate the Aircurve VAUTO from the Aircurve 10 S ?

I wanna make sure I will be given the right machine from my DME.

I need the Auto BIPAP version but my provider says I am getting a "Aircurve BiPAP" which is not the same thing. I felt they were trying to push a 10 S instead the VAUTO.

Thanks in advance!

Model name is clearly stated on the front lower right hand corner of the AirSense/AirCurve machines.
Can't miss it.

Or you can look on the bottom or side (where the serial number sticker is) and look up the REF number....but there's really no need.

BiPap is a Respironics trademark term for a number of bilevel devices...you won't see it officially with any of the ResMed stuff.

AirCurve 10 VAuto....is the auto adjusting bilevel. 3 modes of operation...cpap fixed mode, bilevel fixed mode, bilevel auto adjusting mode.

AirCurve 10 S....doesn't have auto adjusting mode available...instead its a fixed bilevel pressure machine. Can't ever auto adjust.
2 modes of operation.....fixed cpap mode and bilevel fixed mode.

Thank you very much Pugsy, you always helping people here!

I am currently using a Dreamstation auto bipap and just wanted make sure they give me an auto bipap as well, the customer service rep I talekd over the phone wasnt too convincing as she said i was getting a bipap machine no mention of auto bipap and as far as could see on the Resmed brochure both VAUTO and 10S look exactly the same and just the code changes.

There's no such thing as a "aircurve bipap",

"BIPAP" is a registered trademark of philips for their "bilevel" machines. only THEY make 'bipaps",

Ignorant people use the term 'bipap" generically,

Resmed's term for 'bilevel' is 'aircurve'. so, *technically* "aircurve bipap" means: bilevel bilevel

As to how you can tell the S from the VAuto? look at the front of the machine, it says it right there on the corner.
