Ya know, there's a disturbing "silence of the lambs" aura about zonker....

hey, kids! the purchase of the woolley house has been finalized. whoo-hoo!!

was just up there over the weekend to do some reconnoitering. looks pretty good. and it was GREAT to be back in the green and wet.

still lots to do here. and we are taking out some more time to visit the first born this week. so that cuts into it a bit.

i'm too lazy to look at my first post so hope i'm not repeating this. the property has a self standing office space, meant to run a small business out of. we are having that renovated into our living space. it already has plumbing and electricity. we are hoping this won't take long.

in the meantime, we are renting an rv to live out of until things get finished. that should be interesting.

as the more alert amongst you can see, i've been lurking and offering comments from time to time. i still plan to stay in that mode at least until we get settled in and i figure out the internet connection up there. i may "hot spot" off my phone for a bit.

anyway, just wanted to let you know what's up.

keep up the good work!

So good to hear from you! It sounds like things are moving right along. By the way where did the name Sedro Woolley come from?

you know, i was going to answer sarcastically. but you made me think. (how dare you!)

my experience is limited to the seattle area and south. i really don't know if the rainfall amount is different there. i mean, make no mistake, it gonna rain! but i'll have to wait and see.

in any event, this winter of adjustment will be tough. gloomy and rainy and gray. but i'll make it.

an excellent question, my good woman. and here is where i'm supposed to reel out a fascinating yarn that explains it all.

alas, i haven't a friggin' clue!!

i'm pretty sure it's a native american name of some sort.

prolly means "welcome to the zoo"....

According to Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedro-Woolley,_Washington)

The area was originally know as Bug and Woolley. Bug due to the large amount of mosquitos and Woolley after the railroad developer and settler Philip Woolley. The Bug reference was unpopular and it was changed from Bug to Sedro. Sedro referencing the Spanish name Cedro for cedar with the alternate spelling to make it unique.

I like welcome to the zoo better.

a wee bit of an update. have been to the property in the woolley, as the kids say. i think this is going to work out. was there for two whole days. it was brilliant sunshine the first, then the more typical rain thereafter. nothing we can't handle though i know that adjusting from arizona's "relentlessly sunny" days is going to take some time.

then we went to see the first born sprog. had a little more time to check in here then. it was quite a pleasant trip. garden of the gods and rocky mountain park were seen and enjoyed.

now it's back to the casito and the packing. i'd say we are maybe sixty percent packed. blastoff is friday the 27th. however, we are going down to the valley to stay overnight with the niece the 26th and driving her back here. she's helping with the drive, thank goodness. so really we have to be packed up before we drive down there.

soooo, i'm trying to keep focused on the packing and not the typing here. but packing is such hard work and typing at you guys is so easy!

i'll see how it goes....
