Filter whine driving me NUTS!

Post by gv280z » Thu Aug 15, 2019 9:39 am

The two filters for my Dreamstation Auto, when both put together (blue and flat white one) whines during inhalation, so much so that its distracting to where I remove the flat white filter and leave only the larger blue one installed in the machine. Are there any higher quality filters that don't whine or whistle? I've even tried using thinner tissue paper in place of the white filter but it still whines.

Has it always been that way or just a recent change?

Always, I think I used to be able to ignore but those days are gone.

Do I just need a new set of filters could it be that easy fresh filters?

If the disposable filter (which is the smaller one) is not white (or nearly white) it should be replaced.

Of course, I'm speaking about the color of the actual filter, not the bracket!

Most likely the filter isn't the problem, it's the fact with the filter in the machine has to work harder, you are hearing the added effort of the filter doing it's job. Put in new filter, if noise doesn't lessen, Best Option. Mask the Noise with a Background sound, I play Relaxation Music all night. (see Utube) or Narure sounds like Rain also Utube. They also make machines that make these sleep sounds (White Noise).

Or for more Hassle, you could take the machine back to the dealer, and play their game. For me I didn't have a sound problem, but still use the Sounds to relax they seem to help. Usually after a hour my ears plug up, then I couldn't hear a freight train, which is good we have four tracks within a half mile. Jim Driving while NUTS, Isn't Safe!

I've ordered a new set of filters, but apparently it seems the way I've been using for a while now, with just the pollen filter only is perfectly fine. I was worried I'd been leaving the machine vulnerable to dust, but it seems just the one blue filter is ok. The whine only comes when i put the small filter....

The picture you've posted are aftermarket filters. Original ones are with blue frames. Perhaps that's what the problem is.

It all depends on how clean you want the air you breath to be AMAZON isn't going to be breathing air from it. Jim

The White filter removes a smaller size particles. Jim

Ok, I just read that you're using the blue pollen reusable filter. So, if the fine filter is also blue, then make sure it isn't dirty...as stated above
