Arghhh!!!! Brevida problem- am I alone?

Post by SleepyBobinTas » Wed Jul 31, 2019 7:37 am

After trying like 6 different masks I finally found the "perfect" one- the F&P Brevida. So my first one, which WAS wonderful, had a split in the short tube that attached to the elbow form after two weeks. So I get a replacement, and that has a pinhole leak in it at the same place, just below the collar that attaches to the elbow, that forms on the second night.

Am I the only person this has happened to?

How different to the Brevida is the P10, comfort-wise?

Hi- those are my 2 fav. masks, the P10 and the Brevida. I switch back and forth. The P10 is more lightweight overall, which I like. The Brevida stays put on my head better since it is adjustable straps. Also, the Brevida makes my nose sweat a little because of the way it hugs the outside of my nose and wraps around it. The P10 just fits up against the nose holes. The Brevida feels like I have more gear on my head than the P10 does. I like them both.

I haven't noticed any pinholes or tears on anything. But, I don't clean things as vigourisly as you might? I just use a little hand sanitizer on a tissue daily, and don't take it apart but about once or twice a month. Have you tried holding it in a different way when you pull it apart?

The Brevida nasal pillow is going to be a softer silicone than the P10. It's not like the P10 is hard or anything like that but the Brevida is simply unusually soft and larger as well.

Haven't heard of those failures on the Brevida. Your problem isn't common.

I actually preferred the P10 over the Brevida even taking into account for that softer cushion but all masks come with a big YMMV sticker.
What one person might love about a mask the next person might just hate.

Oy vey- I am cursed!!!

I used to have a F&P dishwasher that also was plagued with problems- the repairman's common answer was, "This is unusual..."

I'll try silicon tape.

Thanks!

I assume that you don't have a cat from Hell that you could pin the blame on?
I have 2 of those but they don't mess with the cpap stuff....they just like to chew on power cords. One of these days I am going to find a fried kitty. I have had to resort to covering all the power cords that I can find and get to with a kind of plastic shield in an effort to avoid finding a fried kitty. I caught one of them up on the table my laptop sits on and with the cord in its mouth that charges the mouse.
It's not just cords on the floor.
They have never paid one bit of attention to my mask or hose though. Go figure.

Where do you get your mask supplies from?
The masks are warrantied for 30 days from defects in construction.

When I first started I crushed many Swift FX small hoses... hence my username. :)

I figured out a work around and finally was able to enjoy the Swift FX.

When I switched to the Brevida I incorporated some of those ideas and have not had any issues with the Brevida small hose. The idea is to limit the stress on the small hose. My wife and I "enjoy" ballroom dancing in our sleep so things get stretched and moved around a lot.

I keep a roll of Rescue Tape, just in case things get out of hand.
