Cute gizmo.

The market will always attempt to voluntarily divorce unsuspecting people from their money, as that is the way of a free market, which is why it is incumbent upon the people to perform their own research into the product. The problem, of course, is when a business markets something that performs a duty that can be accomplished by simple manual cleaning. They are maximizing profit off of people's inherent laziness, under the guise of efficiency. Additionally, they use fear to target people, such as:
Studies have found that bacteria can be present on CPAP equipment in as little as a few days, and that users have an increased rate of respiratory illness as a result.
Which we know to be blatant fear-mongering, thanks to studies such as: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5611769/

Which comes to the conclusion that:
This study shows that the use of CPAP, choice of mask and humidifier have no significant impact on the prevalence of infections and micro-organisms isolated. This is very reassuring to the physician prescribing CPAP therapy and users.
Did you catch what they did there? They combined a true statement ("Studies show that bacteria can be present on CPAP equipment in as little as a few days"), with a lie ("...and that users have an increased rate of respiratory illness as a result.") Since the first part is essentially true, they can use the term "Studies show...." to give the whole statement, even the lie, an air of authority - which works miraculously, due to the appeal to authority logical fallacy.

I also like how they're using the term "Active Air", or O3, which is nothing more than a cute way of saying "Ozone", because O3 is Ozone, which we also know is a strong oxidizer and can be harmful to humans via this: https://www.greenfacts.org/en/ozone-o3/ ... tation.htm
There is evidence from controlled human and animal exposure studies of the potential for O3 to cause adverse health effects.
And also from the EPA itself, for those that implicitly trust government: https://www.epa.gov/ozone-pollution-and ... population

I'm a capitalist, but that doesn't mean I have to like the blatant attempts to deceive people. What's striking is the amount of 4.5 out of 5 star reviews. It makes me wonder just how much of the populace actually pays attention.

Edit: Nevermind, answered my own wonder when I read one 5 star review. lady claims her CPAP gave her the flu and then since she used it everyday, she couldn't get better - UNTIL she bought a Respify and miraculously she got better. So, pay attention, because Respify also apparently upstages a flu vaccine (which itself is nowhere near perfect).

An implicit assumption of capitalism/market-based economies is that deception and fraud are not allowed.

I try to follow NAP (non-aggression principle). NAP clearly states deception is a form of aggression.

Saves Time and Money, I don't know about time, but if you don't buy it you will save $ 75! I guess the time would be in buying and returning it. I love truth in advertising., Rare to see it on the product box. Jim

I don't know if deception is a form of aggression or not, but I agree with you that deception and fraud are on the same plane regarding the banes of my existence. I do not like deceptive people, nor deceptive marketing strategies. Outright fraud is a whole other level, which I deal with on an almost daily basis, but both are disgusting.

In definitions commonly used in the social sciences and behavioral sciences, aggression is an action or response by an individual that delivers something unpleasant to another person.

Buss, A. H. (1961). The psychology of aggression. Hoboken, NJ: John WIley.
Being deceived is unpleasant.

Trust must be earned, not taken for granted. If you are slow to trust, you will be less likely tobe deceived. Those who trust everyone are prime targets to be lied to and deceived.

Every time they come up with yet again another piece of crap,
I save more money--because I'm not buying any of it.
The only time we paid money for excrement was for the garden,
when no livestock was handy to make it for free.

My Cpap supply store has yet another one, looks like someone made it in a garage. I also saw it on a youtube being compared to the famous Noclean.

You put mask in a baggie & the rest I guess is magic. They are pretty proud of it by the price, just under the Noclean price.

The bullfrog showed me the ad for that one.
I laughed so hard--(you get the picture.)
Had to squeegee off the lily pad.
