how do I turn off AirCurve ASV?

Post by beautifuldreamer » Tue Jan 22, 2019 9:18 am

I can’t seem to turn off the AirCurve. I try pulling off the mask and pressing the start stop button. Nothing works except to pull the plug. And if I put the plug back in it starts blowing the air again.

Thanks for any advice

Update. I figured it out. I was trying to turn it off the way I used to with the old Respironics ASV and that wasn’t working. Just had to press and not do a prolonged hold. hold

It shouldn't be doing that.

Pushing the button to stop it...should work.
And when you pull the plug and then plug it back in...it shouldn't immediately go to blowing.

Call up the supplier tell them it is possessed by little devils.

LOL - Thanks I will call the local branch office, I was really confused when it kept blowing and my first wake up when I had to go to the restroom, I decided to simply unplug the thing -
but on a good note, last night was my first ever 0 AHI since starting PAP therapy!

So the answer was to press the button and not hold it too long, right?

Reminds me of the radio in my last car. If you didn't hit the on/off button long enough, nothing happened, whereas if you held it too long, it was like hitting it twice (on and off again, or off an on again). The time tolerance was very narrow.

Changing brands can mess you up.

Turn on 'smartstart', it should turn itself off after a few seconds.

And yes, I believe that was the main problem, holding down on the on/off button for too long-
on my other device, I used to have to hold at least for a couple of seconds before the respironics asv would turn off.

YES, I am trainable, and tonight I will hold down just for a brief touch, rather than the extended hold . . .

Is your mask type (and hose type if not using a heated hose) set correctly?

Yes currently the mask and hose type correct - i believe it was more because i was holding/pressing the on/off button too long that I was having the problems . . . Sometimes I had to hold the on/off button for 2 to 3 seconds for my Respironics ASV to turn off . . .

*on a side note, I am waiting to receive a heated hose to be shipped from my DME, I remembered to ask my Sleep Doc for the heated hose After he already placed the prescription/order for the new ASV. The local dme branch didn't have any heated hoses in stock or they would have given me one . . .

hmmm - after pushing stop, the air blowing appeared to turn off, but then after I returned from the bathroom, it seemed that there was still low level air blowing through the tube. And the only way to stop the low level air blowing was to un-plug from power. Then it stopped, totally.

Is that normal, to have the low level of air blowing?

The low level air flow is normal.
Called the cool down period. Mainly it's air moving through the hose to dry things out a bit.
It will end 30 to 45 minutes on its own.
Only way to stop it is to pull the main plug.

As well as I am breathing through the night wonderfully with my new ASV - 2 nights in a row, 0 AHI

LOL this is too funny -

I realized this morning that I was not pressing on the on/off button !!
I have been pressing on the round dial that is to change settings/etc.

Ok, now I understand what the problem was- Just this morning after waking up and looking at my new ResMed ASV, I saw the on/off button with the power symbol on the top of the device!
