What to do with old CPAP?

Is there anything useful I can do with my old CPAPs other than throw them out? I am not looking to make money off of them, I just want to know if there is any way to put them to better use than recycling as scrap.

They are circa 2004. One is large with a humidifier, one is a small travel CPAP. I have two more recent ones I use as primary and backup. These have just been sitting in a closet for years.

If they still work (blow air), why don't you offer them to the users on the forum?
They could be used for spares/backups or for camping.
Many times, some of the people reading the forum need a machine for various reasons.

Specify which specific makes/models and the amount of hours (blower) they have on them.

I have a really old Resperonics PRO 60 that won't hold prescribed pressure but it still blows air reasonably well. I've thought about modifying my computer to accept a CPAP hose to setup a positive pressure system to move even more air inside the case. Or maybe duct it so it blows air directly at the CPU cooler for some overclocking fun. Maybe point it at my ram modules to cool them down better? Lots of options for cooling.

I know of one instance were a guy modified a really old defunct CPAP and set it up to cool his 3D printer head. Lots of people got mad about that... The comments at the end of the article were quite entertaining. If the PAP is stupidly old and your going to pitch it in the bin why not use it to do something interesting. They were freaking out like he'd gone out and got a brand new one off the shelf and then hacked it to use on his printer and someone out in the real world was going to die from his selfishness...

If it's still a good machine but you don't think anyone would buy it from you, I'd still see if you can give it to someone who can use it.

If not... Use your imagination, any application were you need to move a good amount of air all the time? It would be interesting to see how long you could run it before it gave out, maybe use it to move air in a stuffy stereo cabinet? If you still have one of those that is...

I stop in once or twice a year at least just to see if I can get lucky and find some interesting cameras for next to nothing to play with, I usualy come up with nothing but, I'm always finding old crappy CPAPs at goodwill in the electronics dept. I think half the time they don't even know what it is... just that it has a plug and buttons on it so it must be something cool that someone will buy. Sometimes I'll point out that it's medical equipment so technically they probably shouldn't be selling it at goodwill but what ever, I don't think that they care.

Maybe donate it to this program. Please call first and make sure that they want the machine (i.e. it's not too old).
