the nasal pillows have enlarged his nostrils so much they look like they need manhole covers to close them off.
I am a female and I would care...and I have been using nasal pillows only for over 9 years and my nostrils have NOT enlarged one bit.
Nasal pillows won't enlarge anything unless they are worn too tight and trying to crawl up into the nostrils. Some people just wear them too snug or too small of a pillow that will try to crawl up into the nostril.

Properly sized and fitted...they won't change nostril size. Simply won't happen. Nothing goes inside the nostril to stretch it out when correctly fitted.

Now as we get older it does seem like our face/nose/nostrils will change a bit...and the nostril openings will enlarge...it happens to people not on cpap of any kind too. Just another part of getting older.

Same here. My Hybrid mask has nasal pillows. No enlargement of my nostrils after 7 years. Maybe the father was overtightening?

That would be my first suspect but it also might simply be age related in general...or a combination of both.

I have a friend whose mom is on cpap and we got to talking and she said her mom was bitching about her nostrils getting larger.
So I said I bet she's wearing it way too tight or the wrong size pillow is crawling up inside her nose.
I met with her...she was doing both...wearing the XSmall pillow (vanity because she didn't want to think she had a big nose  ) and it was so tight you couldn't sneak a gnat's ass between the straps and her skin. She thought it had to be that way to stay sealed. The rim of the pillow was indeed up inside the nostril. I thought "ouch how can anyone even sleep like that".
Anyway I moved her up to a small size pillow so it couldn't crawl up in her nose and show her that the pillow would stay in place well enough without the straps being vise grip tight (Swift FX mask) and things improved greatly both in nostril size (reduced) and comfort.

Oh...the start of it all for the mom...that's the way the DME told her it had to be...dumb ass.

This mask does seem like it would be a great surefire way to find out if any leaks are coming from out of the mouth. Like a *for sure* diagnostic mask that all sleep centers should use. (And the disposable aspect would work well in that setting too, I'd guess?)

Seems SUPER SUPER dangerous though to tape your nose and mouth but I guess for those that do tape maybe it should all be just one big piece of tape?
Did you know that the first night I ever taped we had a thunderstorm and lost power? Yep..sure did. You know what woke me up...it was the silence and not lack of air. We can move some air through the vent holes and in truth enough to not kill ourselves. Might not be all that comfortable and will require a bit of work but we can do it. One of the tests I did prior to actually going to sleep was tape to my mouth and breathe through the mask and not have the blower be turned on just for that reason. I wanted to see if I would get uncomfortable breathing only through the mask even without power to add air and the lips being taped closed. I never did get uncomfortable ...I got bored after 30 minutes and aborted that experiment. Between that experiment and the fact that I woke up when the power went off more from the silence than discomfort...that's why I never feared taping after that. I will admit to being a bit nervous about doing it before I did it though.

And yes....single piece of tape is all I ever did and one that would/could come off fairly easily. My thought was always that is was more important for me to breathe than worry about leaks if the power went out.

This new mask would be a good way to figure out if someone was mouth leaking or mask movement leaking....Pretty much would eliminate mask movement for sure wouldn't it? With it properly in place the only place left for leaks to come from is the mouth.
What about all the aerophagia leak ? any way to tape those ?

Well there's a way I suppose to tape up that other end but I am not so sure I would want to be doing that...especially if I had a hairy butt.   Removing the tape...big OUCH.
Besides..most of that leak manifests itself the next day and not during the night unless you had some beans for dinner.

I'm betting on that, noses continue to grow and change as we age.

Yes. The way the air streams in through pillows irritates one of my nostrils enough that I find the original Dreamwear nasal cushion and also the F20 oronasal mask to be less irritating.

The Bleep was the brain child of the developer.
If you were to follow his story....short version is....a cpap user who hated the "bleeping" masks available...insert your favorite dirty word.
So he designed this one and for the longest time was simply called the "Bleep".
Now he has added DreamPort....remains to be seen what might actually be on the package once it hits the retail market.
Back last year all we had to call it was the "Bleep"...and there's a lot of people who will remember that and not know it has been renamed the DreamPort...so I did both for those people.

I always kinda thought "bleeping" was fitting.   Since I really am not supposed to type the other word we think about.
Trust me...there's been many a night I have called it the effing mask. :D In my mind more like real life and how we sometimes feel about all this stuff.
