O2 Vibe (Quick Review)

Post by TropicalDiver » Thu Nov 08, 2018 10:05 pm

I recently purchased the O2 vibe (Costco.com) and have had a chance to spend a few days with it.

The Good:
Comfortable (including the thumb sensor). It was easy to sleep with!
Vibrate alert is adjustable (saturation level and vibration intensity).
Seems accurate and records time, pulse, "motion", and O2 sats over time.
Software is decent (but far from perfect).
There is a step counting day mode as well.

The Not So Good:
Not cheap (about $160, US)
No ability to integrate with sleepy head.
No windows support.
Not certain about fragility of probe. The probe could be a bit easier to plug into the watch.
Pairing is tricky to figure out, but after you have the steps nailed, it is very easy.
Supposed to charge off a computer, not an outlet
No audio alarm.

Quirks:
Software was easy to download. Pairing with my android phone was not. A few tips: On your phone, you must have location on and the ability to access files on (and obviously BT). If you don't, you will get an error. Do not try to pair using the phone BT menus (this will not work). Instead, start the app 02 Vibe app with the "watch" portion off and no sensor plugged in (I don't think it wanted to work with the probe in). Then click the button on the 02 Vibe for around one second. Too short and it won't start. Too long might also be an issue.

There are very few controls on the unit itself. Time is set via the app (automatically) as are most other options. The one button the 02 Vibe does on/off and modes. Once you have it set up (before first use), simply put on the unit, plug in the sensor, slide the sensor over your thumb, and turn on the unit. When you are done, you simply open the app and select the device and it will download the data.

When you look at the data in the app, there is a list of days below a chart. Click on a day and it will give you the detailed data.

My results:
I sometimes fall asleep prior to donning my mask. I was curious how low my sats were dropping when being treated...and how bad they are when I fall asleep before putting on the head gear. Asleep with BiPap, my sats typically stayed above 90% (a few very brief dips to 88%). The night I fell asleep for two hours before I put on my mask, my sats dropped to 73% a few times -- much time was spent in the low 80%. Suffice it to say, I am more careful about falling asleep sans mask.

Still to come:
Ideally, I capture a chair nap and see if my sats stay decent or whether that is also a problem.
Machine: Aircurve 10 Vauto (Prior S9 VPAP)
