ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset for HER worth it?
I currently use the AirSense 10 Autoset but have yet to respond well to rapidly rising pressures. I have read about the unique algorithms of the FOR HER and have wondered if it would be better for me. Medicare isn't going to cover it since I haven't been using the one I have for 5 years. I can afford to purchase the FOR HER directly, but I'd like to know if it would be worth it at this point. Recommendations?
I am also considering switching to the Dreamwear Full Face Mask. I currently use the DW cushion and like it a lot, but I struggle with mouth leaks that constantly wake me if the pressure gets over 9.4. I'm controlling my events pretty well....now I'm looking for SLEEEEEP! Anyone use it?

The only difference between the for Her AutoSet and the one you currently use is that additional algorithm mode marketed as the for Her mode.
Unfortunately there is no way to know for sure if that algorithm would be useful for you until you use it.
I have used both and currently using the for Her algorithm. I rather like it myself but then again I used regular apap algorithms for years with various machines in the 9 years I have been on cpap.
At some point you may want to have a back up/spare/travel machine so you might look for a slightly used For Her Model and give that special algorithm a try. Watch the forum because there are a few forum members who dabble in these machines.
That's how I got my For Her model machine. It had a couple hundred hours of use on it and I think I spent around $400 for it.
I got it just because I wanted to try that special mode to see what it was like.
Sometimes the only answer to our questions is to just do it.

it works for ME and i'm male. i use it in the "for her" mode. i think that it's this plus the epr mode of this particular machine that has helped me get my AHI down to just under 1.clenchingtobreathe wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 11:54 amI currently use the AirSense 10 Autoset but have yet to respond well to rapidly rising pressures. now, has it improved the quality of my sleep? i don't think so. i'm still sleeping as i was, i wake up several times during the night yet feel as good as i did with my previous machine.
as pugsy says, the only way to know is to try it yourself.
good luck!

For others who may be reading this thread, the ResMed APAP algorithm does not rapidly increase pressure.wrote: I currently use the AirSense 10 Autoset but have yet to respond well to rapidly rising pressures.
Re: ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset for HER worth it?
It is my understanding that the for her mode is good for pressures less than 12 cm H2O. I have both the standard and for her units. I haven't tested the for her mode enough yet (only a day or two...indifferent so far)...my pressure range is 10-15.

Your understanding is incorrect. I see pressures of 15 or so nearly every night.
It does do things a little differently when the pressure needs go above 12 but it will do what it says.
It just won't increase the pressure above 12 for OAs without other factors/criteria being involved.

Good to know. Thanks. I will have to do more testing with the for her unit soon.Pugsy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 8:23 amYour understanding is incorrect. I see pressures of 15 or so nearly every night.

I guess what may not be considered "rapid" may certainly feel like it. For me, when the pressure spikes up from 6 cm to 11 cm in a matter of just a few minutes, it's rapid.....and wakes me up.....every time.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 2:19 pmFor others who may be reading this thread, the ResMed APAP algorithm does not rapidly increase pressure.wrote: I currently use the AirSense 10 Autoset but have yet to respond well to rapidly rising pressures.

Re: ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset for HER worth it?
It may just be the higher pressure, not the rate of increase. When mine would go from 12 to 18, I would often awaken. 18 was the problem, not the minutes it took to get there.

I'd be willing to bet you a beer that whatever is causing the pressure to go up is what's waking you up... it's certainly disturbing your sleep. then you figure "oh, pressures up, that's what woke me up".clenchingtobreathe wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 5:02 pmI guess what may not be considered "rapid" may certainly feel like it.
