Amara View mask

Any Philips Amara View mask users? I'm tired of having straps across my forehead and air blowing into my already dry eyes. Interested in knowing what you think, what the transition was like (especially if you converted from a full-face mask), what to watch our for in terms of initial issues, quality, etc. Also, if you tried it and decided against using it, that would be useful info, too.

The DreamWear Full Face mask is very similar to the Amara View but with a lower profile and footprint and more flexible.
General considered to be a much improved Amara View.
Amara View has been out in the market for several years now...the DreamWear FFM only since last May or so.
Have you see it or tried it?

I agree with what Pugsy said. I used the Amara View mask for over a year and currently use the Dreamwear FFM. I have found the Dreamwear to be more comfortable and leaks less than the Amara View did. The cushion of the Dreamwear is more pliable than the Amara View. I run a pretty high pressure (1-20 cm) and show zero mask leak on Sleephyhead almost every day.

Yes, me! Only one I've used since starting about 10 months ago. I tried a couple others within the first few days of getting started but found this to be most comfortable. Use it every night, leaks are not an issue.

I've used the Amara View for roughly a year. I am overall very happy with it. There was an adjustment period until I figured out how to fit it on my face but once I got through that period, all is well (considering I would rather be wearing no mask but alas...). Make sure you use the fitting template so you get the right size.

I tried Amara view and dreamwear FFM, I simply get better results with nasal pillows. My biggest issue is that my upper teeth slant slightly forward (not much) and my jaw is narrow, but deep, so in order for it to seal properly I have to strap it on a little to0 tight. So I would say, YMMV and it depends on your face shape. If you have trouble getting a seal on the sides with regular FFM masks, you will most likely still have that problem with the view or the dream wear.. Otherwise It's great.

My eyes get dry at night in spite of all my efforts.
I finally settled on the best fitting mask possible (p10) for me.
but still keep a bottle of artificial tears next to my bed.
I add drops whenever I wake--even in the middle of the night.
Temporary discomfort is unavoidable--but quickly alleviated.
I find artificial tears at discount stores (Dollar Tree and Big Lots) to be effectve and safe.

I've been trying an Amara View mask for about a week now, and so far have found it to cause the fewest leaks of the five masks I've tried. It still leaks, but it is better. I have a receding chin, and I suspect that is one reason I have so many problems. My face is also thin; I suspect a medium in length and a small in width would probably fit me best. Unfortunately, I haven't found any yet that fit my proportions.

To keep leaks to a minimum, I find I need to lie on my back and barely move. Movement to the side invariably gets leaks started at the chin, one side or the other. With a different shape face, you might not have that problem at all.

I do like the ability to wear glasses and read with the mask. That makes fewer steps to take after I'm ready to start dozing off. One thing I hate about the mask is the clips. They are far too difficult to catch and to release. The worst of any mask I've tried.

I found the View fairly comfortable, but I could never get the mask to not leak significantly. I watched videos on fitting, and did manage to get it to work if I stayed on my back with no motion, but it would start to leak again with the slightest movement. I found myself fighting with the mask almost constantly, so I stuck it back in the bag and moved on.

After the View I tried the Brevida nasal pillows,....which worked great on me, and I still use them today. I also have a Simplus FFM for those times I might have a sinus infection, flu, etc., and I have pretty good success with it also.

The Amara View seems to be one of those setups that either works great for you, or doesn't work at all,.....not much in between with it. YMMV of course.

I also had trouble with leaks and the Amara view. Switched to Airfit Nasal Pillows and they are great.

I successfully used the Amara View mask for over a year without any problems. I switched to the Dreamwear full face mask around three months ago and I like it much better.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I just got back from a trip to Lake Tahoe. Took my CPAP with me but forgot the hose. Oy.

I don't even try nasal pillows because of a deviated septum. So, I think I'll give the DreamWear a spin and see how it goes.
