Is the ResMed S9 more reliable than the S10?

Post by byersa » Tue Aug 14, 2018 4:55 pm

I was told that by a therapist. She also said that the S9 is easier to program. Can I program either model or does it need to be taken to a DME?

If I can get a slightly used S9 from a local DME for $500 would that be better than buying a new S10 online for $700 (no mask or heated tube in either case)

Welcome to the forum.

Which S9 model for $500? How many hours has it been used?
S9 Escape...you don't want it at any price...no data
S9 Escape Auto....you don't want it at any price...extremely limited data and might as well be no data

Both of these offer full efficacy data
S9 Elite...fixed cpap mode only
S9 AutoSet...has 2 modes...fixed cpap and auto adjusting...this one is the better option of the 2

Which AirSense 10 model online for $700
AirSense 10 CPAP....very limited data...you don't want it

And these have full data
AirSense 10 Elite...again fixed cpap mode only
AIrSense 10 AutoSet...again 2 modes...fixed and auto adjusting

It's not a S10 which is a Chevy pickup truck.
ResMed stopped with the S numbers with 9 and totally renamed it's latest models...AirSense/Air Curve 10

As for the S9 being easier to program...that's a load of crap. Both are easy.
See the manual for the AirSense 10
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her...3 modes...fixed cpap and 2 different auto adjusting model

Personally....I would get the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her.
You may or may not need that 3rd m mode but it's always better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it.
The price is the same for either AutoSet.

I can get you a low hour S9 Autoset for like $250, or an AirSense 10 Autoset for $375.

I do understand if you insist on new. That's a preference vs. cost thing. I have a new, sealed AirSense 10 Autoset on the way to me, looking for $500 on that.

DME sounds like they are trying to take advantage of you with the $500 figure on a used S9. Have they even told you how many run hours?

There are about 13 different Resmed S9 machines... which one is important.

most people do great with an autoset, and 500$ is way too much to pay for an S9 autoset.

They might be *slightly* more reliable, but they're no easier to program, that function is the same.

You can program either model.
