Acceptable Leak for Resmed Air fit P 10
Consistently get round 26-28 Leak Along With a Smiley Face .
Anyone Have any Input ?
I Guess at my age working full time that I shouldn’t expect to wake up and feel like a 30 year old after 7.5 -8 hrs. Just want to Optimize the sleep I do get. Feel Blest to do what I can do !
Total Scores generally read 0.6-1.6@11.5 pressure
In week I go to a new Respironics machine after putting 17,000hrs on current *
Thanks
Tim

The 26 to 28 is that from the machine LCD screen? If so, that's just the 95% number and all it means is for 95% of the time you were at that number OR BELOW for 95% of the time.deerslayer wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 6:15 amConsistently get round 26-28 Leak Along With a Smiley Face .
Mr Smiley will show up until you spend at least 30% of the time over 24 L/min and that actually takes a lot of time.
Are leaks waking you up? If not, I wouldn't worry about these numbers.
Are you feeling decent during the day? If so, I wouldn't worry about leak numbers like this. It takes very little excess leak to elevate 95% numbers making it look worse than it really is.
The machine is still fairly accurate in terms of reporting events up to around 35 L/min or so and after that it gets a bit iffy...so I think your AHI is probably accurate and the machine is unlikely to be missing events and if it is maybe 1 or 2 and not enough to greatly impact things.
If it were me I wouldn't give these numbers a second look as long as the leaks didn't wake me up and I was waking up feeling decent the next day.
And yes, it would be nice if cpap could make us feel like we were 30 again but the other stuff that comes with getting older just sometimes puts a monkey wrench into that idea. I still don't wake up rearing to go run a marathon but at least I don't wake up feeling like I just ran one and got run over by a bus at the finish line.

My main issue that cpap can't fix...pain and sleep maintenance insomnia from that pain. How I feel the next day is directly related to the hours of sleep I get and how many wake ups from pain that I have. Doesn't matter what the leak or AHI is for me.

When I take off the P10 it can run for 10 minutes. I am averaging 15 on the leaks but on large leaks 160 and I think that comes from when I pull off the mask. if I disconnect the mask from the tube, it shuts off right away. I have a s9 auto vpap.
Re: Acceptable Leak for Resmed Air fit P 10
Yes...I have this happen now with my AirSense 10 machine and I had it happen with the S9 I had.
The auto on part of SmartStart works great but the auto off part doesn't work so great and in fact won't work at all.
For this reason I just manually always reach over and turn off the machine when I take the mask off.
For some reason at some pressure with some masks (especially nasal pillow) the auto off part doesn't work so great. The resistance by just the pillow alone is enough to keep the machine from sensing no one is at the other end of the hose.
This is mentioned in the manual ...it's that common.

Do make sure you've got the mask setting to 'pillows', on the machine.
I've got a S9, and when I first switched to the P10, first time I took the mask off, the machine didn't shut off... I was disappointed, because I love the smartstart auto on/off... then I remembered I hadn't changed the mask type... I set it to 'pillows', and since then, it's shut off within a few seconds, every time.

Mine still doesn't but I think it is because of my minimum pressure and the small size of the pillows.palerider wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 1:56 pmDo make sure you've got the mask setting to 'pillows', on the machine.

It might turn off if I used more pressure (but why would I want to do that) or maybe with a larger pillow but again I see no reason. It's not that big of a deal to reach over and just push the button. If it was a big deal...I would just unhook the mask from the long hose instead.

With my headboard, and side table, the machine's not where it's handy to reach... so for me, the smartstart is gloriousPugsy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 2:05 pmMine still doesn't but I think it is because of my minimum pressure and the small size of the pillows.palerider wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 1:56 pmDo make sure you've got the mask setting to 'pillows', on the machine.

No Worries, i haven't hunted in five years

was tweaking settings today on the S9 and saw options...Hmmm never noticed the medium or fast inhale after all these years. Going to try fast tonight, still keeping EPR at 3 and definitely no ramp .
