Trying New Masks

Post by S-Dubya » Tue Feb 06, 2007 10:43 am

Anyone else love to try out new masks? I always replace my masks every 6 months and for the past 3-4 trips I have tried a new model. About 2 years ago I switched DMEs (Apria - Praxair) and the folks at Praxair let me try out most any mask in their office. I usually try 3-4 each time before deciding on one.

I had never though about it, but when I registered here there was a question about whether or not I would be willing to "test" new products. I have to say, that sounds like fun.

Am I the only one that loves trying new hardware?

S-Dubya,

Given all the buzz there is every time a new mask comes on the market, I'm surprised there hasn't been any response to this thread. I like to try out the new stuff and to try older interfaces I've never used. Funny thing is though, I always wind up going back to the old tried and true.

I really do not like trying new mask but every now and then none of the mask I have feels comfortable on any given night. I have the comfort gel, comfort gel lite, the classic, comfortfull2 full face(2), mirage activa and ultra mirage full face. My favorite is the comfort gel lite

I stick with what works for me.

I find that is the best.

Hi, my name is Rick, and I'm a maskaholic.

I'm about eight weeks into therapy, and I'm up to eight masks (6 in possesion, 2 on order).

I just hope I find the "one" before I go broke!!!
Wake me up when this is over...

I like to try different masks! My absolute favorite right now is the Comfort Lite 2. I'm a definite side sleeper and I sleep so good with this interface. (As long as I don't have nasal congestion.)

Since trying out the Acclaim and being fitted with the Activa, I try to restrict myself to trying only nasal pillow and full face masks. Nasal cushions just don't seem to attract me at all (They don't seem to have a sufficient CO2 wash for me and make me starve for more air).

I have a Swift, CL2, Adams Circuit, and my favorite so far ... a modified Breeze. I also have a Hybrid, and F&P 432 (got fitted with a 431 ... and tried a UMFF for about a week) ... I never got more than about 4 hours on any of the FF types ... So I will keep trying.

I don't think of it as an addiction but rather an educational process of learning how these masks work and what designs are best suited for my specific taste.

I want to try the Opus and Solya FF in the near future.
