data for resmed S8

Post by sleeper101 » Mon Feb 05, 2007 5:49 pm

Is there any way to get data for a resmed S8. I looked on cpap.com and it appears as if there is but they are not selling product at this time. I have tried upgrading machine to elite or vantage but my dme does not have those products and I would have to purchase new machine.
Thanks in advance for feedback.

I'm not sure what you're asking? Are you trying to find somewhere that sells them (cpap.com do), or are after information about them?

I'm trying to find out if the capability is even available with this machine.

I'm pretty sure the S8 Compact does NOT have the type of data capability you are looking for as it is described as an "entry level machine". The data card probably doesn't supply much more than compliance date.

Why not just call Resmed tomorrow and ask them if the Compact accumulates and displays the Efficacy Data in the Detailed Patient menu and if it even has a Detailed Patient menu? Those who have contacted Resmed by phone have all said that Resmed staff were pleasant and helpful - except when it comes to their software and reader.

Ask if the Compact is capable of supplying your sleep doctor w/the data to help monitor your pressure and pressure needs or if its only capable of verifying your compliance. Ask just what data specifically the Compact provides your sleep doctor.

Hi Sleeper

The S8 Compact shows Compliance data only - nightly final stats. It doesn't have the detailed data that the Elite and Vantage have.

If you stay with ResMed machine ... you need an Elite or a Vantage. However, the software may only be purchased from Australian online CPAP suppliers.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Did you buy your current S8 Compact outright or are you renting it from this DME? Are you self-pay or do you have insurance? How long have you had your Compact?

If your DME supplied the S8 Compact he's being cagey w/you, maybe not outright lying in that he might not have the Elite or Vantage in stock, but if he sells one Resmed product he can get any Resmed product.

If you are still in a capped rental period or are renting the machine, you can ask your doctor to order the Elite and if he will do so just ask him to write the order being very specific as to which machine. Your DME must then comply and swap your current machine for the specific machine ordered (at no extra cost unless you are self-pay).

If you have insurance it would pay to check w/your insurance company regarding your Durable Medical Equipment benefits - and any annual deductables that will now apply since the first of the year. Insurances pay the same for an entry level machine as they do a truly data capable machine or even an AutoPAP so there is more profit for the DME to supply an entry level machine and no incentive to provide you w/a data capable machine.

If you are self-pay it almost never is worthwhile to purchase thru a local DME and to purchase online instead. If set up of the machine is a worry you can always ask your sleep lab to do the set up for you if you explain you are self-pay and own the machine outright thru online purchase.
