RESMED ASV machine differances

Post by Punky » Thu May 03, 2018 10:55 am

Hi New Here & Newly Diagnosed with OSA & CSA

Is there a difference between a ResMed ASV S10 Vauto
ResMed ASV 10, RESMed ASV S9 and Bilevel ASV ?

Perscription is for a Aircurve ASV

There are no ResMed S10 anythings...
You would be better to learn the terminology correctly from the beginning.
ResMed went from the S9 model line to the AirSense/AirCurve 10 model line and dropped the S part of things.

https://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/p ... vices.html

The S9 model of what is now called the AirCurve 10 ASV would be called the S9 Adapt and would be model number 36037 to have the same functions as the AirCurve 10 ASV.

They have different model names in the AirCurve 10 family because they do different things.

If your RX says AirCurve 10 ASV...then that is what you should get.
Now the S9 Adapt model 36037 is the older discontinued big brother of the AirCurve 10 ASV.

ALL ASV machines are bilevel, so that's redundant.

The Vauto is a different beast, not ASV at all.

What Pugsy said about 's10'.

and your question is just a jumble of terms, one would have to guess what you think individual ones are.

I am really surprised they stuck you with ASV right away .. I had to start at the very basic, fixed level CPAP to Auto BiPAP then to ASV ... It was a hard stressful process ... And that was with an AHI of 95, 90% Central ... Then I see this ... someone going straight to ASV, not even doing the research to know what machine they are going to let alone be treated with ...My guess is you're paying the DME out of pocket? Don't waste your cash with them you'll be able to get a machine way cheaper searching online .. Still so confusing to me.. I have never seen anyone go straight to ASV without at least trying to rule out all other xPAP treatment first ..

I was put straight onto an ASV. I did have a full night titration- I was put thru the other machines before the ASV, but my central apnea got worse with those...
The increase in apneas on the "lesser" machines was noted in my letter to the insurance co. to have the ASV approved. Putting me on other machines first would have been dangerous, and if I felt worse after using them, I might have soured on using one at all. I love my ASV. I didn't have any trouble getting used to it, I was able to use it all night from night 1. And I have very high rx. pressures.

I was tested the same and the only way I was to be covered by insurance was to use each be compliant, fail and move on to the next finally getting to ASV .. My AHI (Centrals) were insane on CPAP and BiPAP was off the charts ... They did not care, I had to start at the basic and move on up .. I only could have dreamed of being put straight on ASV I would have saved months of stress and no sleep ...
