snore index and sleep quality

Does anyone know or have a theory about how much the Encore Pro "snore index" affects sleep quality? Is it as important as say OA and H or not important at all?

I haven't noticed any difference. But, it does seem to relate to mask leak. I noticed that at the same time as a leak, it will sometimes indicate snore... Derek did a test about snore index a little while ago...
