I posted on the 22nd for the first time and just read the replies. I did not get the response I thought I would get. Cost and other problems was all that was talked about. If I said cure, I'm sorry but now can sleep and wake up feeling good. Some of us have problems and have to do what needs to be done for some relief, I welcome that it is there for me and others to use.Maybe saying I got all my equipment from the VA has brought the raft of some. It is a benny I earned. CPAP is a way of helping and I use it.No further sob stories will I post. To some of you, THANKS! Advice I will seek and listen to what is said. Listen, is the key word.

Gary I'm sorry you didn't get the kind of response you thought you would. You have to remember that many of us have had less than ideal experiences with the whole CPAP rigamarole. Overcharges by DMEs, difficulty in just getting the machine, leaky masks, sleep doctors who think the only machine in the world is a straight CPAP, and the list goes on. Not everyone adjusts to the machine easily. For some it is very difficult and they give up.
I think it is great you were able to get yours through the VA without charge and that you are doing well on it. The unit you got may be the best straight CPAP there is, but in the opinion of many on this forum, it is far from the best for everyone unit there is. The majority would say this would be the Remstar Auto with CFlex. But that is another whole discussion, and it has been discussed at a great deal of length on the forum.
If at any time you do have problems with your treatment, your machine, your mask or whatever, rest assured this forum will be here to help you with advice.

Thanks...Now I feel bad at jumping the gun
Janelle what you said is true. I did not consider others and what they went through. Listen is what I said, I myself need to do that more often. I have learned alot on this forum and will be here for others as you have. I'm working mid night shift and dont get on here till then. I have had great results and feel like a kid with a new toy. It works for me, just want others to know. Thanks again, later.

Hi Gary. Listening is important. So is being listened to. Compassion and forgiveness are likewise important. I wish you every success with your treatment. Everyone deserves relief. I believe this forum helps a lot of people deal with this. The forum might not be perfect all the time, but it is always well-intentioned. Hope it helps you.Gary T. Gary,
Glad that therapy is helping you. I reread the original post and saw where it went astray (I didn't help either) But that tends to be the nature of conversation here. Someone will say something, and what you think was the main point might not be what comes across when typed as the main point.
Again, glad that your trip down the cpap road has been fruitful for you and has improved the way that you feel.

I'm glad that you are having such success with cpap treatment. I think it's great that you got your cpap from the VA at no charge. You've paid your dues. It does us good to sit down and count our blessings sometimes. Sleep apnea can be treated. My brother has gone through a battle the last few months with cancer and what I have gone through adjusting to the cpap is nothing compared to what he has had to go through with chemotherapy and the like yet he never complains. He's greatful there is treatment available.
I have a Fisher Paykel 221LE straight cpap and it works fine for me. I have no problem with the pressure which is set at 12. Granted, a lot of people do have problems with the pressure. My insurance paid 100%, no deductibles for the machine and in order to get an autopap, I would have had to convince them that I couldn't tolerate the pressure of the straight cpap. I'm saving my money a little at a time to get an autopap on my own but like you said, a person has to do what they can. There is almost a feeling here of if you use anything less than an autopap with C-flex, you're not being treated and how could you possibly feel any better. What matters is what works for you.
Again, I'm glad you're doing so well!

Re: Feeling Good In The Day Time
HI Gary:
If anyone deserves recognition it is a veteran and I'm glad the VA works for you, and that you are adjusting to cpap life. This board is invaluable with tips, quips, and complaints, but overall info is so informative, that before I got my PB 420E autopap, I printed out various posts and showed them to my doctor (no response), my RT, who could care less, and the DME. Well you've read the good, bad, and ugly stories and glad you've taken it on yourself to improve your sleep apnea.
I have the software and can monitor my progress, sleep patterns, leaks, squeaks, squawks and everything in between.
Someone much wiser than I, said, "we're works in progress". Guess we are lucky to have found the board and can sound off ea. other.
But support is key, and cpap.com does do that best.
Keep hosin'
