The Two Dollar Rainout Fix!

Post by JoeA » Mon Feb 28, 2005 2:04 pm

Folks:

One way I found to eliminate "Rainout" is to go to youe local Home Depot and buy a piece of Armsrong 5/8" ID x 1/2" Wall foam insulation exactly 3 feet shorter than your Tubing and a roll of electrical tape.

Slit the insulation lenghtwise, stuff in your tubing into the insulation and position it so that you leave ~ 18" on each end uninsulated. Wrap the insulation with a spiral of electricians tape and now you will have enough insulation to totally eliminate rainout!

Todays Humidifiers do have autotracking, but room temperaure is colder near the gound. If your tubing hangs near the ground then Rainout can sitll occur, unless the tubing is insulated.

Works Great! Try it!

JoeA,

I tried that with my Swift pig tail before I got my heated hose. It worked, but made the hose rather stiff.

You didn't just say that. Please tell me you didn't just say that.

Liam, still too immature to let a "hose" joke pass.

I wrapped my pipes (water pipes) with it and it cut down on my hot water
heating bill. I guess it could be used on other pipes, as well.

Why would you want to heat hot water ?

Its called a water heater. Not a hot water heater. LOL

Sorry , couldn't resist again.

I'm not sure what you're talking about?

My post was just surprised that Wader would be so gramatically incorrect as to post a sentence fragment.

I don't know what YOU read into it.

Liam, who has to be back to the convent before dark.

Well, I find my heating bill goes down if the town ships hot water already into my water heater, so that I only have a comparitively small amount of additional heating to do.

So personally, to save propane costs, I MUCH prefer heating hot water.

Liam, brewing tea. Want some?

Liam,

"Gramatically incorrect" is my middle name. I am also notorious for leaving out the commas. On top of all this I do not type well.

In my defense, I did say THE hose was stiff, not MY hose was stiff.
