Has anyone here used billmyinsurance.com? Last time I bought a new mask on cpap.com, I just went ahead and paid out of pocket because I didn't want to spend the time going through the red tape of insurance coverage, but I think soon I might want to replace that one or get new accessories for it, and I'd like to get insurance for it.
Insurance
There have been quite a few posts from people who have used them. The response seems to have been good so I wouldn't worry about giving it a go.
Just be aware that since you are going through insurance, the cost and the paperwork requirements revert back to the same as going through your local DME since the insurance companies are the ones that set the prices require all that red tape.

That reminds me: Since I'd paid out of pocket for my ComfortLite, the insurance company doesn't officially know that I've switched masks. Hence I just received a replacement ComfortGel mask (the kind I was originally issued) in the mail. I will most likely never use that one. I guess I should notify my insurance about that, otherwise if they get a claim for a ComfortLite, is it possible they might turn down the claim on grounds that they're already covering me for the ComfortGel? Who should I notify to stop sending me replacement ComfortGels? The CPAP equipment provider, or the insurance company?

Only my thought
If you just got a new mask ... even not asked for
you just got your replacement at insurance cost.
You would need to return it or something... otherwise
you are probably out the insurance replacement for the
next 6 months
only my thoughts on the matter

Regarding having switched masks, that is something that you absolutely should be in contact with your equipment provider for.
Why didn't you just get it from them to start with? Regardless, yes let them know. If you aren't even going to use that mask then I would also speak with them to see if they can take it back (Assuming you haven't opened it). This is a great example of why it's always so important to communicate with your provider. They had no idea you switched - so when it came time for your new mask they send one you can't use!
And yes, since this would be billed through your insurance that does mean that this will be considered your 6 month replacement.

The provider that originally fitted me with the ComfortGel doesn't have ComfortLites, which I first saw on cpap.com. At the time I didn't feel like I had the time to figure out how to make sure my insurance would pay for it, I just needed to try it ASAP, and buying it online out of pocket seemed the only way to do that. Anyway, that's my excuse....mattman wrote:Why didn't you just get it from them to start with?
Hi Tarzan,
I just went through a quote with bill my insurance.com. The prices they use are "DME/Insurance pricing. SO it depends on your deductable, coverage etc...
In my case it would have cost me $190 if I bought a mask, hose and filters through them before JAN 1st. The cost from cpap.com would be about $160.
After the new year NEW deductable, first $250 would be my cost plust 30%.
Its good to know....
Good luck!
