I had this exact same problem

I have a temporary fix

I called Resmed in the UK, useless customer support

The reason the tank makes the knocking noises when you breath in and out is the change in pressure if you, like I do, use the EGR setting to reduce the pressure on the outward breath

This outward breath causes a pressure change in the tank and slightly opens and closes the small plastic clip which sandwiches the plastic water tank together

Poor design of the water tank as far as I’m concerned (I have an honours degree in physics and an interest in fixing things!)

I have fixed this by use of largeish rubber bands placed around the water tank once it is in place thereby holding the two pieces of the water tank together more securely than just the plastic clip in the tank

Hope this helps someone, this is my first post. I’ve been using my Cpap Resmed machine for a year now.

Resmed, please come and answer why the tank is so poorly designed to deal with the cpap pressures
