Re: cpap machine to old ?
It's only too old if it won't do what you need it to do.
So, if it runs well, and you are well treated, then keep using it. If you are not successful with therapy and the old one doesn't have enough data, then get a newer machine and make this one a backup machine. If it works great, but you don't have a backup machine, then consider getting a newer one and keeping it as a backup machine.
If it doesn't work, replace it. Most insurance companies will replace machines that do not work and many will replace machines older than 5 years even if they still work.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I had a machine that was "showing" a certain pressure, but im convinced the blower was defective
I wouldnt take chances, get a new one

You should get a new machine or a low-hours used machine. Keep your old machine as a backup.augy II wrote:How old is to old for a cpap machine mine about 10 yr

Yes, your machine is old - well past expected life span. It could run a couple more years or it could fail tomorrow. So, you need to plan ahead.
You shouldn't wait until your machine fails to get a replacement UNLESS you have a current prescription IN HAND and can order one immediately from an online supplier. You still may be without a machine if it fails on Saturday night, but usually it can be shipped overnight otherwise. Alternatively, start now to work through whatever hoops you need to get your insurance to pay or get a machine from Craigslist. It can take weeks to months to get a new machine if you expect someone else to pay for most of it. See the stickies for recommendations on that. Once you have your new machine, you can keep your old one as a backup if there is a failure.

I had one replaced when it started making too much noise, and sometimes failing to show data.
