While at my DME today for a new water chamber I got a chance to see the new AirTouch memory foam on the F20.
I asked him about the life expectancy since ResMed says 30 days. He said he uses it and thinks that 3 months is doable.
He said that after 30 days the foam will start to age a bit and turn yellow. It doesn't really hurt anything except the visual yuck factor though.
Don't submerge it in water to wash it because the foam won't dry out which will greatly speed up the breakdown of the foam. Just use some sort of little wipe (those baby wipes would be fine) or damp cloth to gently wipe off any oils.
He loves it. Says the foam doesn't get hot like silicone does and there is a tiny bit of air that comes through the foam so that it feels cool touching the face.
So they will last longer than 30 days but will start to turn yellow which is a bit ugly but doesn't hurt anything.
I imagine actual time before the foam starts to disintegrate will vary with how oily a persons skin is and a padacheek mask liner would likely even extend the life a little more.
It did feel quite nice on the skin though. Much nicer than the F20 silicone.
