More knowledgeable members will be along with advice, but they will want to know what mask you're using.Carol Dunlap wrote:Lately, when using my machine I have awoken in the middle of the night with my mouth so dry I can barely open my mouth. I have all new mask & parts and it is still doing it. Any thoughts?
I sometimes have mouth leaks, so I keep a spray bottle of Biotene on the nightstand for those times when I wake up with a pasty mouth.

Hang in there for advice from experienced members, which includes things like using a chin strap or cervical collar to keep your mouth closed, or even taping it (there's a very recent post on that subject). I have found that even keeping my teeth together, air can escape through my lips. Doesn't happen often, which is why I avoid taping. Again, let members know what mask you're using so they can help.
Re: dry mouth
Often dry mouth means mouth leaking. What is your leak rate? It is best to post data if your machine is data capable.Carol Dunlap wrote:Lately, when using my machine I have awoken in the middle of the night with my mouth so dry I can barely open my mouth. Re: dry mouth
Dry mouth usually indicates mouth breathing unless you are taking some medications known to cause dry mouth.
Dry mouth from mouth breathing can happen with a full face mask or a nasal interface mask.
Using a full face mask doesn't guarantee no dry mouth....but it will help prevent loss of therapy pressure out the mouth.
Mouth breathing with a nasal mask...you might be losing therapy pressure out the mouth and it will show up as a leak.
It would help to know what mask you are using.

Re: dry mouth
I have the same challenge. My doctor as well as my DME provider both suggested that the bedroom might be too dry. They suggested running a small humidifier in the room. If you have one, give it a try to see if it makes any difference.
Re: dry mouth
I see you are using a nasal mask and are at a relatively high pressure. What is your leak rate? How do you control mouth leaking? Your machine has a humidifier. I suspect that your doctor and DME provider are WRONG.HockeyGirl22 wrote:I have the same challenge. My doctor as well as my DME provider both suggested that the bedroom might be too dry.
