If you are a stomach sleeper with claustrophobia what is the best type of CPAP to get?

Since it's the middle of the night for many here, I'll respond in general until some stomach sleepers weigh in. Your sleep position has no bearing on the machine you use. Certain masks may be easier to use with stomach sleeping but even full face mask users here have reported successful stomach sleeping. You may not be able to bury your face due to mask vents, but you'll probably be able to figure out something that works for you. There is a semi-stomach sleep position called The Falcon Position that has been discussed on here. Maybe it could work for you. As to the claustrophobia, several on here have dealt with that and will weigh in. I did feel some panic the first few times and thought I might not be able to do this, but here I am 12 years later. Just keep in mind that anything you struggle with initially is not necessarily an indicator of how you will do with things over time. Hopefully your mind will accept that without the CPAP mask you were repeatedly suffocating in your sleep, but with the machine and mask, you are finally safe. For one with claustrophobia, it is particularly important to have the pressure high enough to be effective. Too low of a pressure can cause a sense of shortness of breath and can be confused with claustrophobia.

Follow what kteague said and then choose a pillow that is firm enough so you don't bury your face in it. The buckwheat hull cpapfit pillow in my signature works well for that.
