Encore Pro smart card problem

Post by Piper_J » Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:47 pm

Yesterday I downloaded the data from my smart card for the first time. The data came across fine but when I put the card back into my APAP, I was getting an error C-202. I removed the card and tried to erase it but Encore Pro could not longer read the card.

Guess I need a new card but has anyone else experienced these issues?

Thanks,
Jerry

You probably clicked on erase..I am new at this but there is a place to erase or not to erase..Maybe if you used the card for another night it would have that data.

The error actually comes from the APAP machine. Will not let me use the card. That's when I tried to erase it and Encore Pro would no longer read the card.

It may not "read" it, but there's a "setup smartcard" function in the "Smartcard Utilities" option in Encore Pro. It allows you to input your patient number (like "01") and your name on the card (there are two lines of data) and formats/erases the card when it does it.
Try that and see what happens. I doubt if the card has been damaged.

Good luck,

Den

I have the same problem and no, "setup Smartcard" does not work in my case. I get an error that it is "not a valid Encore Pro smartcard". I don't know what happened. Does any one have a way to reinitialize the card? Thanks for any help.

Just a thought.

There might possibly be a mismatch between your version of software and the machine model you have. It is the best explanation I can come up with.

It happened to me when I bought a Remstar Auto mid last year from cpap.com & was participating in a study with the local Respironics Agent (Mayo Healthcare Australia) and they kept saying they could not read my cards that they sent me to use in this machine. I though I had bought a defective machine until I got my hands on the latest EncorePro software & found I had no trouble reading writing the cards & getting my data.

What this told me was that there were incompatibilities. The Remstar Auto had not been released in Australia when I got mine. All the other people in the study had Remstar Pro 2s.

Your problem may not be due to this issue but it iw worth exploring the models & versions you are using.

Two things to try.:

1. Ethe data on the card from the Encore Pro home page, not the patient page.

2. When erasing data from the card, make sure the card reader is plugged into the USB port which was originally used for the reader's installation - not just any open USB port. I know this makes no sense, but I've found it necessary.

Per the troubleshooting guide, error C-202 is a Smartcard_Bad_CDCB_Checksum error.
The remedy is to reprogram the card.

I don't know if that can be done at the machine level or needs to be done at the DME.
