Addicted/wanting to sleep feeling? Normal?

Post by SelfSeeker » Tue Oct 17, 2006 7:46 am

I have spent 12 days on my APAP.

Initially and still do wake up without the hangover feeling I have had for many years.

I do not have much more energy and still need to take naps. I also ended up with a cold last week.

I have been tired for a long time and have been sleeping a lot even before the APAP. What I have noticed since getting my machine is that I feel addicted to it or want to sleep with it non stop.

I am not sure if my body feels even more tired or just wants to sleep.

Is this normal, or is this what you call paying off the sleep debt.

I have done 112 hours on the APAP. Mind you not all of it has been sleep, mask adjustments is part of it.

I also do not drink my first cup of coffee now, I go back to bed instead.

I can do this, I will do this.

My disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever worked in the health care field Just my personal opinions.

Sounds pretty "normal" to me. It DOES take awhile.

Hang in there!

Sounds normal to me too. I got to spending lots of hours in bed up to ten a day, was still wanting naps. It took 3 or 4 months to get it paid back although I felt better anyway.

Now at over one year , I find 7 to 8 and I awake ready to go, I still get a nap in after supper, because it feel soo good, I don't use XPAP for the nap, because I am in a recliner, and I really don't plan the nap, I know I should, but I'm only almost Human. Jim

Thanks guys.

Jim what a time line. I will be patient.

Jim, should I tell you that before I got my APAP, and once I knew I had OSA and new what was happening to me, I woke up gasping from sleeping both in a recliner and an upright position. I only have 21 events an a hour, and pressure is between 13-17 to get rid of them. Just a thought for your naps.

What surprised me, I need more pressure to treat events during nap times, then I do during the night. (On average.)

I can do this, I will do this.
